Their business model relies upon and has always been to be associated with the very best and coolest sports men, women and teams in the world, so that association will transfer to the fan who buys the kit who will then feel cool by wearing the kit. The reality is that Aston Villa no longer occupies that position. We no longer fit their model and in reality, haven't done so for the last two seasons.Didn't Walsall recently have a Nike kit? And don't Crystal Palace currently?

That shirt was just superb. The simplicity of it, the sponsor, everything about it oozed class.
Not particularly fussed about who makes our kit.I do remember the initial promo stuff Nike - The "We start today" (or was it tomorrow?) slogan with the back of the shirt on Gabby or Barry and the Holte End with some serious airbrushing/lense flare action. As a signal of intent them were heady days on reflection. It was a time when the club seemed to be good at PR.
Le Coq Sportif HensonDiadoraHummelHardly the big name, leading brands of their time yet all suppliers of our kit in the past.
It still bugs me to this day that I missed out on one of those long sleeved Hummel shirts with 'Mcgrath', 'Cowans' etc on the back. I thought they were great - think they came in pale blue or white. Have never been able to find them since on ebay etc
