Le Coq Sportif
Henson
Diadora
Hummel

Hardly the big name, leading brands of their time yet all suppliers of our kit in the past.

Le Cog Sportif made the Argentina 1986 shirt, Diadora made the Italian national shirts for years.

We should take Umbro again and the club can start re-issuing all the old 70s gear. It would fly off the shelves.

I dread to think what shiny nylon shit Macron will be dreaming up for us.

Anyone know who makes the Cleveland Browns shirts?  Do you think RL might do what Henry has done at liverpool and go for a manufacturer of their American football team?

Reebok make the Cleveland Browns kit, who are a subsiduary of Adidas - surprising then we got lumbered with Nike. Given what they have said about Liverpool don't think we'll be consorting with them any time soon, no offence to 'Eck or the current squad intended.

Why would Liverpool go to Warrior Sports? THEY DON'T MAKE MAN UTD OR ARSENAL KITS. They must be shit.

On the Macron note; the FC Lorient kits (all 3) are fantastic.

I think Liverpool have gone to Warrior because they have links to John Henry's Red Sox and are Boston based.  It's interesting that a giant of the game (Adidas) view Liverpool's market value to be far lower than Warrior does.  I smell a bit of Man City-style, FFP-busting, dodgy dealing going on here!

I thought this when I read about their new kit manufacturer.  Maybe we should tyr and adopted a similar approach?

Liverpool's poor showing has cost them kit deal, claims Adidas chief

Quote
Herbert Hainer, the chief executive of Adidas, has claimed that Liverpool's performances on the pitch – including their failure to qualify for European football for the first time in 12 seasons last year – and a difference of opinion over the club's commercial worth have seen the German kit supplier withdraw from negotiations for a new deal.

Liverpool are coming to the end of a six-year, £12m-a-season arrangement with Adidas and had opened talks with a view to renewing it, but Hainer is insistent that the Merseyside club have priced themselves out of the market.

"The gap between their performance on the field and what the number should be is not in balance," Hainer told Bloomberg. "Then we said: 'OK we will not do it'. That's the end of the story. It all depends on the success and the effort and the popularity, the exposure on TV, revenue you can generate by merchandising.

"This all has to be brought in line between what you offer and what you get. We thought that what Liverpool were asking and what they were delivering was not in the right balance."

Liverpool have expressed dismay at the comments and are reported to have reached an agreement with the US brand, Warrior Sports, said to be worth £25m a year – trumping Manchester United's contract with Nike, which ploughs around £23.5m into Old Trafford every season. They also claimed that Adidas were unable to grasp the global appeal of Liverpool, regardless of the club's qualification for European competition or not.

Their partnership with Adidas started in the 1985‑86 season and after a 10-year hiatus with Reebok, was revived in 2006.

Sales of the Liverpool's replica shirts are claimed to reach nearly 900,000 a year, making it the fourth-highest selling kit in the world behind Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Warrior Sports' parent company, New Balance, won the contract to become the kit supplier to the Boston Red Sox in April 2011, the baseball club owned by Fenway Sports Group – the same organisation now in charge at Anfield.

Liverpool signs new kit deal with US firm Warrior

Quote
Liverpool has signed a six-year deal with US sports firm Warrior Sports to make the Anfield club's kit from June.

The company, owned by New Balance, replace German giants Adidas as the maker of the Premier League team's home, away and third kits.

Warrior, associated with ice hockey and lacrosse in the US, will also make the club's training kit.

It comes after Spurs said last year that another US firm, Under Armour, would make its kit from 2012/13.

Liverpool has not announced the value of the deal, but some reports have put it at £25m a year.

The club's shirt is one of the top selling replica shirts in the world.

Richard Wright, general manager of Boston-based Warrior, said: "We are here to shake up the world of football".

Liverpool, winners of five European Cups, sit seventh in the Premier League and are in the semi-final of the League Cup.

They face Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.

"This is another landmark deal for Liverpool Football Club and once again shows the value of the club's brand globally," said Ian Ayre, the club's managing director.

Adidas first made Liverpool's kit between 1985 and 1996, and then from 2006 until the present.

NIKE will be making all NFL uniforms at the beginning of next season.

Please god, don't let us go with Macron.

It still bugs me to this day that I missed out on one of those long sleeved Hummel shirts with 'Mcgrath', 'Cowans' etc on the back. I thought they were great - think they came in pale blue or white. Have never been able to find them since on ebay etc

I just got a brand new one of each from eBay. 20 quid.

Probably more the case that as a new entrant in to the football merchandising arena, Liverpool are worth more to Warrior than they are to adidas who have already built up the pedigree.  It seems more like an aggressive marketing strategy by Warrior than a dodgy deal to get around FFP rules.
