Enjoyable interview on Chris Woakes’ love for the Villa with Brian Halford of WCCC.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but Amol Rajan (super cool presenter and journalist)mentioned on Radio 4 this morning how excited he was to get his first villa shirt (with AST on the front). When he was a kid

A bit of an odd one given he was born in India and raised in Tooting. Hope he is a Villa fan as I really rate him as an interviewer/presenter, and he's excellent on University Challenge.

2:54 into the Today programme this morning:

Plus bonus grudging mention of the Villa from Alistair Campbell later.

Interesting, I’ve played cricket with Amol but never thought for a moment to speak with him about the Villa!

Yep. Joey D'Urso has owned up/proudly stated he's a Villa fan: https://x.com/josephmdurso/status/1925461354594373907

Looks to be a really interesting book. UTV

He’s the same age as a mad keen Villa fan of 11 years old who I met in Essex in the mid 90’s. No family connection with Birmingham or the Midlands, he really stood out among the Hammers, Gooners, Spurs and yep, Manc U and Liverpool fans around him. I was his form teacher at the time and we both wore our Villa shirts with pride on non- uniform days!  He was a Villa fan mainly because his hero was Mark Bosnich and he was a keen goalie.

I wonder if Amol was focused on a particular player or just liked the team; we won the League Cup in 94, which would have been around then.

He fell out with Monchi because he wouldn’t sign Bob Wilson, Ray Wilson, Joe Wilson, David Wilson, Harry Wilson or Callum Wilson.

So we’re still in for Harold Wilson, Mari Wilson and Wilson Pickett then?
