The sports reporter from the local ITV news ambushed me on the North Stand car park, the morning after Darius Vassell missed his penalty against Portugal, to ask what it meant for his career. I gave some half soaked answer all the time working out what it meant for my career being broadcast from Villa Park when my boss thought I was working forty miles away!

Haha, reminds me of when our PE teacher had the day off sick and was captured on slow-mo during the cricket highlights, cheering a wicket with a pint in each hand.

That reminds me of a friend of mine,  he was meant to be off sick from work, but he was at the Crucible watching the snooker - all was fine until his boss saw him on TV sitting on the front row, watching the game.

I was at a Radio One Roadshow in St Ives in 1980, got pushed into going on stage by my mates to play a music quiz called Bits and Pieces, and actually won it. Still got the Radio One compilation album signed by Peter Powell.

Matty Cash makes Prince William revelation after Aston Villa visit

Prince William visited the Aston Villa squad in the dressing room before and after Thursday's game against HŠK Zrinjski Mostar, Matty Cash has revealed.

The defender spoke about the royal visits after the match, which Villa won 1-0 thanks to a late winner from captain John McGinn. Cash revealed the extent of the Prince of Wales' fandom, and how he reacts to matches when watching from home on the television.

When asked about Prince William visiting the dressing room after the match, Cash said: "And before as well! He came in, he loved it here. He was saying normally when he is at home he is shouting and screaming at the TV. Here he is a bit more calm. I’m sure at the end he is going crazy."

Cash revealed he hears from Prince William "quite a bit", with the royal visiting Bodymoor Heath and Villa Park quite often. "He comes to training," Cash said. "He is just a really good guy. He speaks to us like a normal guy, speaks to us like a normal guy. We treat him that way when he comes. He just likes to be out and around the lads because he is a massive Villa fan."

"He knows all our names, our nicknames, everything. He is a proper supporter. He loves coming here."

Prince William watched the game on Thursday evening alongside Tyrone Mings, who continues to recover from a serious knee injury. "Ty speaks to him quite a bit, I think," Cash said. "It will have been a good night for them both."

William deserves his own thread .
He's of higher stock than others and shouldn't be simply regarded as a celebrity.

Speak for yourself pal. He's no better than me, or anyone else for that matter.

He's better than Robert Hopkins and Paul Tait.

He's not of 'higher stock' than anybody, mate. He's a human being who happened to be born into a certain family.

I tell you what, there's some proper security when he's in town, as you'd expect. Sniffer dogs at the entrance, and a couple of blokes stood outside the door who I very much suspect you wouldn't want to mess with, unless you like 9mm projectiles fired into your kneecaps.

I'm talking about William of course, not Footy-Vill.
