Barry Bannan is reportedly not taking any wages from Sheffield Wednesday until the club's staff have been paid first.

That would be a good move for him, as it would of been for Louie Barrie

New England Revolution captain Carles Gil scored a consolation, while Carles Gil-wannabee Lionel Messi scored twice for Inter Miami to win 2-1.

Ashley Young being linked with a return to Watford. I wonder if John Duran will still be playing at forty.

He'll probably be on his 40th club by 40.

We need an 'Ex-Villa players no longer playing' thread

Myles Sohna retires at 22

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6493166/2025/07/17/myles-sohna-had-a-bright-aston-villa-future-then-he-didnt-now-hes-plotting-a-coaching-career/

From the article/interview

Quote
Two long, straight scars tell the story.

Myles Sohna is now smiling, but his “war wounds”, as he puts it, are visual representations of toils and the relentless sense of unjust.

“You ask yourself why,” he tells The Athletic. “Why does it happen to me? Between the ages of 18 and 21, I had three serious injuries. It didn’t make sense to me. I got to a point where I resented football. I used to watch and it made me depressed. I associated football with trauma because of all the pain it caused me. That feeling lasted for the duration of my final rehab.”

The former central defender is talking from a coffee shop in Cheltenham, having moved back in 2023 once he knew his time at Aston Villa was up. He had no other choice but to retire the following year.

Sounds like he has learned to live with the disappointment and moved onto coaching. Good luck to him.
