Which manager let Albrighton go on a free transfer?

He was offered a new contract I believe which he thought was inadequate so let his existing one run down then left.

Albrighton's version:

Quote
"It was a shock (to leave)," he said. "I was led to believe I was getting a contract there.

"I don't know whose decision it was - manager, chairman or the chief executive. At the time, they must have thought they could have got something better.

"It's worked out for me. I've come here and got a new lease of life. It's been the best thing, to leave, as I was getting a bit complacent. I'd been there 16 years and it gets to a point where you have to go your separate ways.

"The offer was on the table here, and as soon as I found out the contract wasn't there at Villa, this was the club I wanted to be at. It's taken me on a bit of a journey.

His statement  is pure class and his love of our club shines through. Immensely  proud of Marc he has been a credit to the game.

Yes I think he said if there was a contract he would have signed it.

I remember him saying that he wasn't expecting an increase or making any demands or anything, he'd have signed it for what he was already on.

Played in the winning 2021 Youth Cup squad, and was in that FA Cup team that played Liverpool during Covid. Then went to TNS, scored a load of goals for them. Now doing his bit for the Saudi sportwashing enterprise.

Although I guess if anyone has to take Saudi millions, I'd prefer it be a 21 year old kid setting himself up for life instead of Neymar adding a few more hundred million.

Ah ok. I don't pay any attention  to the under 21's if Im.honest. So few of them ever make the grade (despite many raving over them) which is understandable given the level of competition and money in the top flight
