Steven Davis in interim charge of Rangers makes me feel old.

Chesney off of Corrie you mean.

That's it. Huge outcry incoming that we shouldn't have sold him.

Quote
Dutch winger Anwar El Ghazi has been suspended from training and games by his club side Mainz for a social media post about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The 28-year-old has since deleted the post which his club felt was "unacceptable".

Bundesliga club Mainz said El Ghazi "took a position on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East that was deemed unacceptable by the club".

Former Aston Villa and Everton winger El Ghazi joined Mainz in the summer.

As soon as you start mixing sport and politics you get in all sorts of trouble.
Same with England and the Wembley Arch rubbish, they did if for Ukraine, why not Israel ? The answer is to not comment on political events.
I know that is difficult but it’s not up to sports people to get involved as much as we might sympathise with their position.
The alternative is a free for all and chaos.

A club banning a player because he expressed his support for an oppressed people is a bigger political statement than the player making the statement in the first place.

It puts the club in an invidious position.
This is the point I am making, if the club let it go then you have a free for all, next you will have demonstrators turning up factions inside and outside the club, chaos.
