The statement issued tonight would suggest matches in the Capital will be OFF ?

With MetPolice working 12 hr shifts and possibly more it would seem predictable sporting events will be affected -

`

wheres the statement you're referring to mate?  got tickets for Saturday as a birthday pressie - may be my only game this year!

Try this http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2415291,00.html

That's the same statement that I heard on SkyNews earlier in the evening. It was the emphasis that no matches "outside of London" would be affected that lead be to suspect that the decision is as good as made to call the London games off.

Given last night's events across the country, I can see other cities calling games off as well.

As an earlier poster mentioned, shopkeepers shouldn't have to wait for a police response because officers are on duty at football matches or not available for night work due to having policed football during the day.

I'm not too positive about the game going ahead although as others have said I can't get my travel refunded so going to go down anyway. Anyone know any non-league games that might be on around London that day?

Can't imagine they'd be much looting there. Seem to remember there was a shop selling door knobs. How do you make a living selling just door knobs? Are door knobs a big thing in fulham?

They looted Oxfam.  But there are some big knobs in Fulham.  Wonder if Mohammed has taken his statute inside??

I hope the game goes ahead, we could do with getting back to some sort of normality.

Calling off the matches in London and possibly elsewhere is an easy option for the police as it is to change local derbies to Sunday and/or early kick-offs.  I know its the Premier League and FA who do the calling-off but they do what the police tell them.

From a selfish point of view I hope it is off. I'd fancy our chances more in a few weeks when we're fitter and and Big 'eck has a better idea of the squad. Plus I might have a chance of going to it if it's in Sep or Oct.

There may be a third possibility in addition to all the London PL games being called off or being on. They may look at areas and anticipated attendances which would still make the Spurs game likely to be called off but the games at Fulham and QPR could go ahead. The only sticking point there being the proximity of the two clubs.

If all else fails on Saturday come to Brixton and enjoy some al fresco music with me. This is what was going on well into the night yesterday

Having unexpectedly taken delivery of three free tickets through work, all of a sudden I'm very keen for this to go ahead.

I don't want to tempt fate, but the rioting does seem to be dying down. So hopefully as it stopped in London first, the game should go ahead.
