Would Fulham and Villa be classed as a low category game?  Is there previous between the two?

Would that improve our chances of the game being played?

It might depend on if the tube/rail network was at full capacity. Fans of both teams and staff have to get there. If it proves too difficult, game could be called off.

I want the game to go on obviously, but football isn't as important as people's safety and general well being. I'd rather police be addressing the riots than be tied up at PL game that can be played at another time. It's all hands to the pump right now, and the last thing you'd want is officers that could have helped out elsewhere curbing minldess violence to have been occupied at a sporting event.

Stopping people going to a football match is a defeat for our democracy and society, put the game on, let people go about thier business. We can not cave in to mindless violence and the health and safety activists. This is England FFS

I kind of agree , but If they are smashing my business up on Saturday and I cant get hold of the police to help me because they are at a football game , I will be very annoyed .

Premier League & Football League Statement
Tuesday 9th August 2011

The Premier League and Football League are saddened by the recent incidents of civil unrest and the effect it is having on local communities.

We are in on-going discussions with our London-based clubs, the relevant police forces and statutory authorities, in regard to the staging of the coming weekend’s fixtures in the capital.

The Metropolitan Police has conveyed to us the dynamic nature of the current situation and with that in mind all parties will review the situation on Thursday and make a further public statement.

With the information currently available there is no reason to think any matches outside of London will be affected.

We are conscious of the need to keep fans informed of any developments and will, of course, keep them as up-to-date as possible through club, league and media channels.

If these vermin ruin my day out on Saturday I'll be starting a one man riot.  Scumbags.

The statement issued tonight would suggest matches in the Capital will be OFF ?

With MetPolice working 12 hr shifts and possibly more it would seem predictable sporting events will be affected -

As an ex copper I would be amazed if games in London go ahead this weekend.  The officers have been working 20 hour days and will be for another day or so at least.  700 have been arrested, CCTV will lead to more arrests, the work load will be enormous.

Apart from all that, can you imagine the public reaction to a riot Saturday night, and the lack of police, because they had been policing football?

I think the London games will be off but most of the others should be on.
