You have made your point - now let the people who want to stay away do so and let the people who want to support the club and manager do so- I hope Alex does well and some people will be ready to say hey he's nowhere near as bad as we thought.

Please give him a chance - if it goes wrong he will go anyway !

He will be given chance because we all want Villa to succeed. People aren't angry at Mcleish, infact there have been many comments about how decent a guy he is. I grew up supporting Villa under Doug so supporting the team 100% whilst being vocally anti the board comes naturally.

If it goes wrong (which his record points to) it will be very costly to our club indeed and is not worth the risk. Alot of damage has already been done and Randy should back out while he's got the chance.

If he does back out now, what manager will want to work for a chairman who sacks them on the whim of the fans. I would not want a Chairman who bases important decisions on what the fans want. We need strong leadership and in this instance Randy seems to be supplying it!

If Randy feels he is the man he HAS to appoint McLeish just as us fans should get behind the team.

If the situation was reversed and it was blues fans doing this we would be pissing ourselves at them.

But it's not - it's them pissing themselves at us (not just the people 'protesting' but the whole club)
and that should tell the board all they need to know

I am now resigned to McLeish being appointed by Lerner - as I genuinely don't think that he would 'back down' again on a managerial appointment. I wish now people had kept silent when McLaren was in the frame.

This is a very sad day for the club - all round

To be honest if I was randy I'd seriously think about selling up and I wouldn't give a toss who I sold it too- I feel so sorry for randy - he is a good chairman and doesn't deserve this, he deserves a club where he's treated much better than this , we don't deserve him!

I have a feeling more of the laughing will be to do with the protest. Shocking behaviour from our fans and were a laughing stock to the country now
I'm embarressed to be associated to villa for the 1st time in my life. And its due to the fans :(

I am pretty sure he has a VERY thick skin, he gets this stuff in Cleveland too. I believe he stated in the past he just pays the bills and hires people that know football to run the Browns and Villa. So I am sure he is hearing the message...even if it is mixed.

I don't believe it is what the fans want, it what the club needs. Good leadership doesn't mean going headfirst into a shitstorm, good leadership can be knowing when you are wrong.

There could well be decent, strong minded managers out there willing to take on the challenge, and they'd  arrive with the fans backing (the same ones that run the club). Besides, Mcleish doesn't seem to have been put off by the fans outrage, some managers just like a challenge.

Anyway, what player would want to sign for a manager who the fans are against from the start?

Totally agree alexpayne, tonight also for the 1st time in my life I am embarrassed and ashamed to be a fan of Aston villa , and it is nothing to do with randy or mcleish that makes me feel this way, it's the shameful and disgusting scenes at villa park from so called fans.

I'm proud to be a Villa fan. I'm just not very proud of the actions of a small minority.

I dont see any other outcome than Big Eck being our boss now, like someone said it makes Randy look naff now if he backs down every time the fans throw a paddy.
