Sorry to see him go, I guess we didn't want to offer a 2 year deal and Spurs did.
I'll be even more sorry when we sign Robert Fucking Green.
Imagine it:  Schteve and Green Holding up the Villa shirt for the press!!! Shudder!!

How you shay, 'bollocksh'

We are delighted to announce that Brad Friedel has agreed to join the Club.

The former Liverpool and Galatasaray goalkeeper has established himself as one of the Premier League's leading players in his position.

A former United States international who has been selected in three World Cup Finals, Brad made 356 appearances for Blackburn Rovers, scoring once at Charlton Athletic in February 2004, before joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2008. His consistent performances saw him presented with the Barclays Merit Award in December 2008 after breaking the record for consecutive Premier League appearances following his 167th straight game and he has since extended this run to 275.

Manager Harry Redknapp said: "Brad is a top goalkeeper of real quality who has great experience. It is good to have three such experienced top goalkeepers at the Club in Gomes, Carlo and now Brad and it means we have competition for places particularly with the number of games we will hopefully face next year both domestically and in Europe as well."

Best of luck, money well spent by O'Neill but a two year deal for a 40 year old is a bit daft.

Have to agree there

Great shop stopper but in my opinion his command of the 6 yard area is shit

He's given us a lot of pleasure. A real professional to his glove tips. Well done Brad. I hope that they appreciate you.

Thanks for the years of reliable service Brad. Go with our blessing.
Having seen Shey Given up close and personal many times i'd gladly reccomend him to the board. Paul Robinson would be another safe pair of gloves

I can't stand Spurs, even though they sent Small Heath down. However, best of luck to Brad. Hope the rumours of financial ruin have been overstated and he will actually be ok.

Hope we don't go for Gomes as his replacement!

Good luck Brad, a top pro.
Don't agree with all this doesn't command the area bollox, he's had a great career because of his abilities, not his faults.

Spuds have Frieddal, Cudicini and Gomes, we have Guzan.

Gomes is a good keeper IMO. Brad - great for a while and good end to the season, but lets be honest, he needed to be replaced IMO. If we had a manager then Westwood on a free would be a good addition right now to give us 1 senior keeper in the squad. I am sure whoever comes can find a keeper on a par or better than Brad, with a bit more awareness on set plays!

Okay, so they have three experienced talented (but flawed) goalkeepers. They can still only play one of them. We'll replace Brad with someone who we feel is better.

Since I've been watching Villa I'd have to say Brad Friedel has been the best all round custodian of the holte end goal I have seen except for the legendary Gabor Kiraly.

He kept us in games we should not have had a chance in and is going to be a tough act to follow - Lee Camp from Forest gets my vote.

All the best Brad - "AWAAAAAAAAAY".

Glad he's gone tbh, still a good shot stopper but his best days are clearly past him and for someone of his experience, his inability to command his area was criminal at times.

Robinson and Foster are better.

He couldn't command his six yard box for shit as about 20 other posters have pointed out
