As many have said, he served the Villa well and 2 years more would have been silly. He was starting to stay on his line and he didn't save many penalties if I remember right but he was great at shot stopping. Thanks for the last 3 years Big Brad, I loved his reaction at Everton when Young scored the injury time winner.

Brilliant goalkeeper. If he's good enough for Tottenham then he's good enough for us. We pay wankers like Stephen Ireland and Heskey loads of dough for nothing, and we cant take a 2 year minor risk on this keeper. When was the last time we had someone as good as him in goal?
Bad move Villa. Only Shay Given on Foster will be good enough replacements. If we sign Robert Green then god help us!

I'd play him ahead of Gomes and Cudicini to be honest so he may well start as first choice there.

A few eyebrows were raised when we signed him at his age but I think we got our moneys worth. A top goalkeeper who went about his business in a very professional way.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind Foster or Given, Green is a no no.

I'm gutted to see Brad go, but when you're in the limbo we're in it made sense on Brad's part I'm sure.

Thanks for everything Brad.

I'm a huge Friedel fan. When he was at Blackburn I would tell anyone who would listen that he was one of the best around. He's been excellant for us for three years. But I wouldn't have been offering him a two year deal if I was Villa boss. He's just turned forty and even next year may be one season too far. Given, Foster and Green would all be getable  as replacements for a start you would imagine.

I think friedels money problems have a lot to do with him moving on, he needed the biggest financial deal he could get.

I don't think he will be number one at spurs long, for all of Gomes's faults he makes some outstanding saves and has saved spurs on many occasions, something Freidel rarely does.

Brad has saved our asses many times.
A fantastic save v Liverpool in his last game for us for starters.

Ben 'former England International' Foster for me.

Just needs putting in quarantine for a month before he joins.

A simple spray down should suffice.

I can't say I'll miss his 'rooted to the goal line' technique for corners. Passed his best.

But if the alternative is the average likes of Green or Given then we may look back at this as the golden age of Aston Villa goalkeeping.
