Even for a pre-season tour, the football on offer is dire.

They all look slim to me. I'm watching on a lap top, half screen is the game and half screen is H & V. If i stretch it vertically its looks like a bloody Lowrey painting.

The odd good moment but overall quite poor. I think we're lucky it's only 1-0. Disappointed with Delph and MA.

In fairness to Fonz... he has nobody to aim for. Might as well tell him (and Albrighton) to cut inside more.

Sky commentator:

"For Villa the best news is that they're only 1-0 down".

Says it all really, even with the Chelsea bias.

Plenty of work to do before August 14th.

Mmm the sight of Ireland moaning at everyone isn't doing much for me. Got to keep calm got a whole season ahead to live through.

Absolutely atrocious first half performance.

Cos we're losing (narrowly) to one of the best teams in the World?

Nope, because we have played atrociously. Obviously.

Whereas we were good against Blackburn.

I don't have any ulterior motive, I'm one of the happy ones, but that first half was terrible.

Absolute complete and utter garbage from all outfield players with the exception of Delfouneso who has been OK. Given looks very good.

Looks like we're struggling, but got to remember it's a friendly and more about improving conditioning. Hopefully this tough conditions will aid our conditioning for England.

agreed, exceptionallly hot and humid anf the main thing is too not pick up injuries -a bit concerning that without bent its hard to see us scoring ,and not many positives to take from the 1st half , given outstanding though.

Well, we've hung on in there is about the best you can say. Dublin over egging Chelsea mind you who have been nothing special. Both teams struggling to put any sustained momentum together. Early days to be saying this but I think anyone believing our youth can see us through this year might be a tad deluded....

Makoun for Delph and Bannan for Delfouneso for me. Give Ireland another 20 minutes to find his class....then replace with Bent

Passing the ball sideways and backwards isn't going to score you any goals.

Don't let chelsea get comfortable in the second half, press them, up the tempo, get some creativity going etc...

He probably needs to alter the formation and bring in Makoun and Bent.

Gabby cannot control the ball, Delph keeps tripping over the ball. We look poor and even Ireland cannot understand the players around him. Massive improvement needed or we are going to get slaughtered .....
