The statement the board comes out with when they have announced his appointment will be a classic.   It will a plum pudding of bollocks, smarm, bullshit and meaningless Improve Your Wordpower aphorisms from Readers Digest.

It will contain a recurring coda about the making of difficult decisions for the common good, of trust and unity and fair play and will be nothing more than a great gobby dripping tsunami of whitewash to give them all time to bolt back to their bunkers and leave the ginger pillock to face the music.

Yep, they'll go for that Mooney thing of "Come children follow me and together we'll go forward and look for the hidden meaning of all thats rightous and on match day we can all join hands with flowers in our hair and chant the sacred Mantra of the Villa park, faith one and all, and remember make you donations before leaving cus it not what i say its what i do where the truth lies..... ;)

I'd be interested to see what qualities the board see in Eck that the other candidates, approached or not, didn't have.

I'm stuggling to think of any except his relationship with Foster & Dann which wouldn't be half bad signings.  Tenuous.

Bluenose Danter on TalkSport suggested whilst at Blose he succeeded in making a sows ear from a sows ear due to the resources at his disposal.  With a silk purse, he might be encouraged not to be dour.

This isn't looking promising.  I am truly worried to the future of the club I love, & have spent thousands on over the years.  Love is unconditional - common sense isn't.

i introduced my new girlfriend to football this season and made sure she became a villa fan. we watched a lot of football together. first time she saw McCleish on TV she said 'he looks like a rapist'. The missus has spoken!

I havent even broke it too her that he is about to be our new manager. She is blissfully unaware :(

Well he'd want less in wages than Benitez, and would probably be happy with a smaller transfer budget than Mark Hughes.  Being grateful for a bigger job, Lerner also probably recognises that he won't cause him a lot of bother asking for things.

I will back Aston Villa forever, but from now on I will question this board's every move.

Randy has fucked up big time even considering this guy as manager of OUR club. He clearly has absolutely no fucking clue about football whatsoever.

I don't even buy this great defensive organiser bullshit. He puts eleven men behind the ball all game so its hardly surprising that they didn't concede many when they don't set up to win a single game all season. There are other teams on similar budgets that had better defensive records, achieved while actually trying to score some goals.

8. Fuham   for: 49 against: 43
10. Newcastle f: 56 a: 57
13. Stoke f: 46 a: 48
14. Bolton f: 52 a: 56

All these teams managed to concede less than Blues while scoring more and none of them exactly had money to burn. We had the worst defence that I have ever seen at Villa and we only conceded 1 more goal than Mcleish's fabled back four.

His defensive coaching seems to be the only positive that people can find in this guy and even that is bollocks.

Randy, what the fuck? Randy, Randy, what the fuck?

What really takes the piss, is that Blues short list of Zola and di Matteo to replace AM is much more appealing than this!

At least we would get some half decent football!
That's what I can't get my head round. Blues end up with one of the bright young things and we get the bloke who took them down twice.

McLeish must have balls of steel to take this job.
He's just got his team relegated for the 2nd time in less than 4 years. His teams play shit football. He's about to lose his best players! And we seem to be in the process of saving his career...for being shit! Forget the balls of steel, he's havin a larf! I don't believe it!

Silver lining - the Blues board are spittin' and threatening all sorts of things.  To hold their breath until they go red and fall over, kicking the floor, screaming till they're sick...I think this has more mileage in it.

Well, I'm still holding out in the hope that Randy Lerner and Paul Faulkner simply cannot be so straw-chompingly fucking imbecilic as to appoint this utter clown as Aston Villa manager. They can't be that stupid. Chimps hurling their own shit at the punters in Dudley Zoo have more fucking sense. There are squirming amoeba underneath boulders at the bottom of the Mariana Trench with more fucking intelligence. There are slack-jawed knuckledraggers in the slums of Bordesley Green, hopelessly trying to work out how to switch on a kettle, who have greater common sense. I think you get the picture. This can't happen, because Lerner and Faulkner cannot be so immeasurably dense. It's impossible.

And rest.

SSN are yellow striping that Pannu is saying our actions challenge Premier League rules.  I really hope he's true & has Petrocelli, Kavanagh QC, Judge John Deed & Rumpole of the Bailey in their legal team.  If they want donations to fund the case I'm happy to help (although Blose'd probably qualify for Legal Aid...)
