Far from happy about the proposed appointment.  But then I'm also far from having a meltdown and throwing my toys out the pram.  Guess that's football these days.

I hope we see a new appointment on the board after this fiasco, whomever is appointed, it's clear we need someone like Graham Taylor helping Randy out when it comes to decisions like this.

cant see taylor being welcolmed after his strong criticism of them.

With all the other names being banded about over the last month this really does smack of being the cheap option. Depressing.

I have a very bad feeling about this. Never mind the EU years ago THIS could be Black Tuesday!

I m really surprised at Randy and extremely disappointed. I haven't thought he d done too much wrong in the last few weeks and it was all the media making a load of fuss. But this statement is truly awful.
Part of me is clinging to the hope that they are speaking to AM just to see what he says as they have nothing to lose. But they must surely realise even if he gives the best interview ever then fans will go mental? And it really worries me that there are people in life ( particularly at my place) who interview well for gaffers but everyone knows how crap they are in the real world.

This is not the man for Villa. Nothing to do with the Blues connection at all. I bet Man City Fans would love Alex Ferguson and if that lot had a good manager (or player) I would would welcome him. However Mcleish is awful and his negative , dull and non scoring football will drive the crowds away.
I was considering a season ticket next season after a year off but there is no way I will be getting one with him as manager.

I just hope to God I am proved wrong

If McCleish is willing to step into the fire, it shows what kind of strength he possesses. I will continue my support for the club regardless.

Its called money and being thick skinned.
Its not all about money.

Aye, he could stay at Blues for money.  Somebody willing to come from there to here so to speak is doing it because they are highly ambitious and know it's a great, great opportunity for them.

So do you think he's taken a pay cut, or will be taking a pay cut to come to Villa, Bob hope and No hope. he'll get more.

The statement the board comes out with when they have announced his appointment will be a classic.   It will a plum pudding of bollocks, smarm, bullshit and meaningless Improve Your Wordpower aphorisms from Readers Digest.

It will contain a recurring coda about the making of difficult decisions for the common good, of trust and unity and fair play and will be nothing more than a great gobby dripping tsunami of whitewash to give them all time to bolt back to their bunkers and leave the ginger pillock to face the music.

If AM was any good there would be nothing sweeter than poaching him from our neighbours.

The fact is he is not good enough no matter where he has come from.

I think the board are cutting of their nose to spite their face due to the fact they feel portrayed as weak at having bowed to fan pressure in not interviewing McClaren. Now they are about to do something even more disastrous to try and make up for that in their own minds!

They've even got to Dennis Mortimer.

He's talking some absolute garbage on WM right now. Winning trophies in Scotland? Do me a favour. I won the Premier league on football manager and I'm more qualifed, and the Carling cup win was a joke! They had the easiest bloody draw going and got lucky against us and Arsenal. Then he got them relegated. Ye magnificent season that was. I can't believe some of the tripe I'm hearing.

It's like invasion of the bluenose bodysnatchers!
