Downing, Bent, Albrighton, Delph & Clark will NOT thrive under McLeish.

I'm fucked off.

I disagree with that entirely, Clark will thrive under McLeish, and so will Delph. The devensive minded players will learn more from him undoubtably, whatever his faults as a manager, he is certainly a good defensive coach.

That being said, I would still prefer to shit in a glass and drink it than watch his brand of football week in week out!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I will NOT be buying a season ticket to watch the sort of negative, one up front dross that McLeish played at Blues.

Randy, General - it's not that he's ex-Blues (if he was some sort of managerial genius that we'd poached from across the city then all well and good - nobody would mind in the slightest). It's the FACT that he's been in charge of a team that's been relegated TWICE, scored the LEAST amount of goals and played the type of football that's pretty much universally accepted as DROSS. If you think I'm going to pay to watch that, then you're sadly mistaken. The fact that you're even considering this level of appointment shows me how wrong I was when I genuinely thought you had the club and fan's best interests at heart.

An ex-season ticket holder.

Disaster in the making, i still don't believe in the eleventh hour this will happen, they must realise what will happen if we start the season losing, even drawing a home game, McLiesh will be given no slack whatsoever, IMO even the board authority at the club will be dragged into question.

Clearly this is desperation, it certainly isn't a judgement based on emotion as being a Villa fan thats for sure.

I still predict it won't happen.

My feelings for what they are worth

McLeish would not be my ideal choice, however

It does look like he will now be the Villa manager

I support the club, not any individual within the club

If they wear the famous claret and blue they get my support

Get behind the club, get behind Mcleish

just saying what i heard and gardener may join him he doesnt want to move his family

"I've supported Villa since I was a lad y'know. I was there standing on my dad's shoulders at Wembley when we beat Leeds in '96."

Craig Gardner, upon resigning for Villa in a few weeks time.

i will support the team next season,i will therefore support the manager of my club.
The statement made by the club seems confrontational against the fans [who are you to tell us who we can put in as manager] attitude, what happened to respect
If the club have taken this stance, they will always win because they hire and fire.
but as the General must know you can win a battle, but will you win the war.

The way the statement reads id say they have already spoken at length to him and its a formality, richard bevan just been on saying mcleish free to join any club as he is going to sue blues and they seem certain they will win for constructive dismissal,.

At least it looks like we wont have to pay compensation,id still like to know why hughes was never considered but i guess we will never know.

I would be amazed if blues were to sell villa any player after this.

I would go for up and coming rather than tried and failed.

A very weak appointment for so many reasons if it comes to that.

Surely we'll be trying for Mark Hughes as soon as he can start talking. If we appoint McLeish before July 1st i'll be pissed off. Hughes is unemployed too.

In fairness, he seems to have done a half decent job improving Dann, Johnson,...

Never seen him get the best out of a winger or a striker though have we?
