Well i thought this was going to be Randys finest hour so far. The appointment of a new messiah to lead us to the promised land. He was restricted last time but now he's had time on his side. And we're interviewing... McLeish. I can't stop sighing.

What really hurts about this is that it really is the end of the dream.
The end of the PROUD HISTORY BRIGHT FUTURE mantra.
Randy rode in on his white charger promising a bright future.
We all expected great things and on some levels he delivered.
But this decision, this single decision shows he doesn't REALLY get it.
It tells us that we can't compete at the top.
It tells us that we shouldn't expect the very best.
It tell us that our owner is totally out of touch and that mediocrity is the order of the day.

He can get all the fucking Villa tattoo's he wants, if he appoints AM, it means nothing.

It's a done deal, why would we publicise the interview as that's not the norm either.

Bleak Future and Proud History should be the new motto.

I chose not to renew. I thought things had deteriorated under Houllier. This is just surreal.

From the General.

and we MUST NOT seek a Manager who simply gets a thumbs-up from the Fans.  We will get the very best man for the job in our opinion and the opinion of those who assist us in the process.

Well it would certainly show you were right on point 1 if it is McLeish. But if he is the very best, i'd fucking hate to see who was the very worst.

Lerner is being advised by somebody that the next manager must be Premiership Experianced..

Its the one thing thats holding back our search for a decent manager..

Please can you re-open the "how important in Premiership Experianced" poll, as I would like to get an idea if there are many Villans with the same thoughts as whomever is advising Lerner of such thing?

I feel its a very important issue on our search for a manger..

If 100% of fans vote that they think its a issue that shouldnt come into it on the search for a new manager. Then its something we should ALL raise to the board.. 8)

Please mods, can you re-open the poll?

So the press were right all along. An absolutely shambolic process, no secret internal plan at all.

The stuff in the statement about buying into the club's vision confirms for me that one of his prime 'qualities' is an ability to manage on a shoe string without wanting to buy top quality players.

See you later Downing.

Exactly! We are a laughing stock. No getting away from that fact. Yes, us loyal fans will still support the team.

But, if the board honestly believe that he is the right man for the job, then i have lost complete faith in them. I'm sorry, but have they learned nothing since they have been here. I have praised them for the way they have approached this. But, WHEN McLeish is appointed; it will just prove how clueless there search has been and that the job has become a poisoned chalice.

FUMING!!!
and we better not be paying 5.4M  for his services. THAT WOULD BE THE FINAL STRAW!!

Downing, Bent, Albrighton, Delph & Clark will NOT thrive under McLeish.

I'm fucked off.

In fairness, he seems to have done a half decent job improving Dann, Johnson,...

We will be fine. If it's a competency based interview he has no chance.

Bleak Future and Proud History should be the new motto.

I sadly have to agree.

I can see a few years of real, hard struggle ahead as the side that took us so near glory continues to be broken up. Why would any player with ambition stay with us now? More to the point why would anybody join us?

So so disappointing. I was sure they had their man lined up when Houllier left. Worst thing is, they probably had only their man did not believe in this board's level of ambition

I bet everything is concluded well before the protests happen tomorrow so it will be a pointless excercise by the fans.  I cant believe im going to say this but RL has let us down big style
just saying what i heard and gardener may join him he doesnt want to move his family

He will not welcome back!  Sunderland want him so he can fuck off up there

It's just ludicrous that a man who has got relegated from the Premier League twice and the Scottish Premier League once can possibly be the right man for the job. If you add his terrible football to the mix, it's a fucking nightmare. The board have completely and utterly lost the plot if they appoint him, it is a tragic mistake.

Wow, what a monumental crock of shit! The possible appointment I mean, not the above comments.

I can think of worse people but only just. I wonder who they have advising them on managerial appointments? I'm not going to call them names but I do believe this will hit the club badly and them in the pocket (compensation to Blues and lost revenue). I don't think he will get us relegated if appointed, we will just become a bit dull and compete in the bottom half of mid table.

Hope I'm wrong, but hope even more he interviews and isn't selected.
