I wonder what the players are thinking about all this? Downing was already making noises. There's no way he'll stay now after this fiasco. He'll be out the door by August. Bent will probably follow by January. No doubt we'll end up with Cameron fucking Jerome or someone to replace him...

Jesus, we are doomed.

If he is our new manager, we deserve to be relegated. The negative football he favors is utter rubbish. Is this our destiny to be relegated by Scottish managers.

If the answer's McLeish, what the f*** was the question?

Who do we appoint that will put us under the most pressure and alienate a large proportion of our fan base?

In 2 weeks (55 days if you count from when Houllier was taken ill) is this really the best candidate they could find? Really?

Here's a tip, if you want the best you actually have to pay for it. Seemingly they got that when it came to Bent and A Young, and had no problem enforcing that when Barry, Milner etc were sold.

So if you wanted Moyes or whoever, go out and pay the fucking money. It's worth it. Certainly cheaper than spunking millions on the football McLeish will serve up and the dross he is likely to sign.

You can never do more with less - you only ever get less.

What's the worst thing Randy could do?

How can you undo 4 years of good, solid and positive work in one move?

To be fair to Big Eck, he's already "shared the vision" of most at Aston Villa after succeeding in getting those bastards relegated last season.

This statement though reads what it is, part of a business plan, that seems to be bumbling and stumbling towards a safe but unspectacular pair of hands, who will do little and not get very much towards it.

It's nothing to do with football, the emotions, the rivalry and the need to win over the "customers". But even looking at it coldly, forgetting he's come from our neighbours for a minute, his candidature - given what is/was available - is not exactly signalling any ambition for the future. "Compelling leadership? This is just dull entrenchment.

In a nutshell we are going to involve ourselves in a massive and expensive legal wrangle  with our bitter rivals, we are going to pay out a massive sum in compensation to our bitter rivals, we have made the club look a stupid and bungling ship of fools in all the media, we are going to outrage, anger and alienate all our fan base apart from a few exhibitionist dissenters, all in the week when season tickets must be renewed - all for a manager who is no fucking good.  It is impossible to think how the replacement of our manager could be a bigger fuck up.

As has just been said the last part of the club statement is pathetically out of touch with the reality of the situation.   The board and that must include Krulak and Lerner think we are outraged because of the Birmingham City connection.   That is of no consequence whatsoever.   Alex McLeish is a bloody awful incompetent manager who plays the sort of football we were told was never to be allowed to return to Villa Park.

The fall from grace of General Krulak and Randy Lerner over this one totally bodged business is an Aston Villa tragedy of epic proportions.

Regardless of whether he gets the job or not. Surely this will be remembered as the day that Lerner lost the fans.

What an absolute fucking shambles.

Protesting and banners is so small time, but so are crowds of 20,000.

Previously I posted something along the lines of:

'It's like going to bed with someone who you think is Kelly Brook but when you wake up in the morning you realise it was Susan Boyle.'

I'm re=phrasing this to:

'It's like going to bed with someone who you think is Susan Boyle, but when you wake up in the morning you realise it's Jedward.'

Being based up in Cheshire, I am gladly removed from the intensity of Villa-Blues hatred that goes on down there in brum. As a Villa fan of 18yrs, I've supported the club through thick and thin. But never have I been more worried for the future of our club than now.

I would have been prepared to give Mcleish a chance on a personal level. However after reading the thousands of posts on here, it is clear there has never been such a wide-scale fan backlash based on one issue.

So I appeal to the board of AVFC :- PLEASE DONT DO THIS.

This could tear our beloved club apart. LISTEN TO THE FANS.-after all WE pay the bills
