The only thing worse than McLeish turning up to be unveiled as our new manager would be the indignity and shame of him also turning us down.

After that week we've just had, I would not rule anything out.

What facebook statement?

"Richard, you know I am not going to tell you anything. I will say that the uproar over McLeish is absolutely uncalled for....he certainly has proved he can manage in the big leagues...just imagine what he could do if he was with an owner who supported him."

"First off, NO ONE is confirming a rumor...I am just stating a belief. You all cling to the fact that he has seen his lads relegated twice...well, the first time he was not with the Club long enough to make much of a difference. Secondly, ...look at the owners he has worked for and their support of him monetarily. Then look at Randy and what he provides to his Managers. Third, look at his record with other Clubs...as a Manager and player. Check with Sir Alex and ask him about the man...you will get an entirely different sense. All I am saying is that the fact that he managed BCFC should not be the driving factor. Those fans who X the man out because he managed our biggest rival just seem to miss the point. YES, Randy and the Board understand the feeliings of the Fans...we are neither deaf nor blind. At the same time, whether it would be this man or any other, we need to do what we think is right for the Club. NO action is taken without HUGE input from many knowledgeable people. Honest to goodness, if a single man can cause all the fans to abandon ship, that is a sad state of affairs. What you are basically saying is, "Randy, let us pick the Manager...we know more than you, those who are advising you, those who are in the game and know the individuals, those who make a living recommending managers and players, etc. etc" Sorry, that just doesn't seem right to me. Again, I am not confirming the rumor...just simply stating my feelings...as a FAN!!!!!!!!"

The fact we appear to have bombed our Houllier to replace him with McLeish leads me question the sanity of the board.
That's the most disturbing thing. You get rid of Houllier who was starting to improve the team and get us playing better since the signing of Bent to hire a manager who just recently got his team relegated again.

I'm putting myself in Randy's shoes and I can't see how he'd come to such an illogical decision.

I feel so sorry for Houllier. He should of stayed.

The man has had repeated dissecting aortic aneurysms, the next one could very well kill him and you want him to have stayed in one of the most high pressure jobs in the world? Keeping Houllier on would be signing his death warrant, i'm glad we got rid of him for the sake of his health.
I understand but it seems like he was sort of pushed out because I get the impression he wanted to stay.

Of course his health is the most important thing but if you're going to get rid of houllier it does seem bizarre to bring in McLeish as his replacement.

The problem is the lack of information has created a vacuum.  That vacuum is being filled by internet rumours, media feedy frenzy on any crumb they can pick up, Mr Whelan and now plonker pannu.  We must have some faith in the board that they will not appoint a man who will effectively divide VP down the middle: those that will support the appointment and those that will not.  Of course it is easier to lose those that support it than it will be to gain those who will not.  The General implies an appointment doesn’t require the fans thumbs up, but equally the board must surely not wish to risk 30,000 thumbs down by christmas if things don’t go exceptionally well.

If anyone knows Rikjaards email or twitter then tell him to send in a CV saying: Dour football, near misses with relegation, no youth policy, good at dividing the home crowd, no euro or domestic titles and prospective employers to ignore rumours to the contrary.  Maybe he will get an interview.

Regardless of his Rags connection, he simply is not good enough to be Villa manager.
Here is a bloke who reached his clubs highest pinnacle in February.
That club was floating on the crest of a wave and yet despite that, he still managed to oversee their relegation.
He was not able to motivate his players to get out them out of the shit.
He did not have the tactical nouse to play his way out of the shit.
He did not have the judgement to see the precarious position they were in to do something, anything to get them out of the shit.

I say again, the bloke had them at their highest high in Feb, and was still not good enough to keep them up.

And some consider he is good enough for us, not a fucking chance.

It's all rubbish, tosh, lies and conspiracy. Pannu saying Villa contacted him via e-mail to ask about his manager. I mean seriously is that what happens when one club wants anothers manager - they e-mail them? Balls to it. I just don't see it. And the rest of the garbage he has come up with just does not ring true.

Hopefully, just as the press are congratulating themselves on yet another 'PR disaster from Villa', we'll announce the new manager amid all their histeria over McLeish and it won't be.

I think we have to assume that RL couldn't possibly be that stupid.  However if he is and he does sign AM then it is up to the fans to take the appropriate action to have the appointment changed. None of this VTID rubbish so I will support any manager the board see fit.  Need to make the poll tax protests look like a picnic.  If we take this lying down then we may aswell call it a day.

My gut feeling that this is just a MASSIVE smokescreen and that we will be getting either David Moyes.  Mcleish will most likely go to Everton and everything will be concluded in July when the compensation for Mcleish will drop to £3.5m which everton can afford to pay.  It could be that Everton would want in the region of £4m compensation for David Moyes from us to cover this cost to the Blues.  I feel that both Everton and Villa are working together to sort this out.  Don't bank on this being concluded this month, July is when we will appoint our new manager

Bollocks to it all. Whatever will be will be. Sick to death of all the speculation, conjecture and absolute bullshit being reported and taken as gospel then fawned upon. Twitter can go fuck itself. I'm off to renew my season ticket.

Yeah me too!! VTID

Who is The Fear? I'm unaware.
