I’m really struggling right now. Over the last couple of weeks I have heard time and time again the mantra that Randy does not do his dealings through the press and crucially that we do things by the book and want a manager who also do things by the book. This alone and the fact that the field of candidates remains strong filled me with confidence and now I hear that we’ve officially enquired about McLeish, a man who quit through email and who would be nothing but a devisive influence at the club. How can Randy frown on Hughes and then be happy to approach a man who dumped his club by email?..... A club who I might add, who we prepared to stick with him even though he’s send them down twice.
Imagine the scenario now come the first game of the season, the first misplaced pass from one of our players will be greeted by a huge reaction aimed directly at our Bluenose manager. We can talk all we want here about supporting the team once decisions have been made, but we are not speaking for the majority of the stadium and the boo boys of the Holte End. I have no doubt whatsoever that were this to transpire, then Villa Park would be a poisonous place to visit, riddled with internal fan arguments on the terraces and negative football on the field of play. It is not a place I’d be prepared to visit in the near future and I’m sure I speak for many moderate Villa fans in saying that.
The board need to very quickly realise that just by approaching McLeish and sending the signal that his brand of football is not welcome at Villa Park, it is putting all the goodwill that Randy has earned in jeopardy.
I want to have faith in the board and want to believe that there is a plan and we know what we are doing, but by even enquiring on McLeish I am beginning to question it.

You just know all these posts are going to bite us on the arse and he'll end up winning the FA Cup for us! Pro's to the appointment are; he knows how big we are, he'll get us defending brilliantly. Who knows with the attacking players we have then he'll be able to play a better brand of football. With Blues he was polishing a turd
If he gets the job then he needs to be backed 100% otherwise it will be a nightmare on both parts. He wouldn't have been my first choice but for reasons above I can see what the board are trying to do.

But he won't be backed by large sections of our support no matter what you say. It is simply naive to believe that the back of the Holte End will give their support to him. I remember the stick that Chris Sutton got as a 'Bluenose' and lets face facts, Heskey has hardly been given much of a chance given his background.
Whatever positive spin you put on it, his presence would divide the fans in a way that no other would and would wipe out the goodwill the board have rightly built up with the fans.

The threat of a new manager being announced today reduced from imminent to manjana. The trail has gone cold stand down, take a day off men.

No credible ITK Twitter chat, No significant betting movements - Mcleish still at evens, Hughes 11/2, Moyes 9-1, only excitement in last 12 hours was the General's evil brother from Small Heath making an appearance on facebook, Predict more negative bullshit stories in local rag and tabloids, more negative reaction from former Villa personnel but expect no response from Villa Park.

It's still not McLeish. 8)

Maybe Randy got McLeish to resign to fuck the Blues up with absolutely no intention of appointing him........

Bollocks to it all. Whatever will be will be. Sick to death of all the speculation, conjecture and absolute bullshit being reported and taken as gospel then fawned upon. Twitter can go fuck itself. I'm off to renew my season ticket.

The board wouldnt appoint McClaren because of a feared fan backlash.

They wont hire Hughes because he showed dubious character letting down Fulham.

Somehow, who the f*ck knows, they are taking it upon themselves to interview McLeish who has managed our nearest rivals to relegation twice and who showed his loyalty to his previous club by signing Marlon King and resigning a week later by email.

If McLeish is appointed, the club will be destroyed. Our books are in a bad state anyway but count on a huge drop in attendances and an absolutely poisonous atmosphere at Villa Park. Our creative players will look to leave at the nearest opportunity and we can forget about anyone who doesnt fancy playing for 0-0 draws at home wanting to join the club. A true recipe for disaster.

I firmly believed these McLeish stories were a smokescreen for another appointment but now am pretty worried. There is no way in the world that this is a good appointment. None. There isnt a single job in the EPL that McLeish would be considered for. The second relegation has killed his CV. Can someone please tell how our board are willing to interview him for the job of AVFC. I dont believe he is the worst manager in the world but he has no chance of success at Villa. None whatsoever.

There will be Doug esque protests if this actually happens.

I don't want AM as our manager but it's nothing to do with him coming from the Blose, it's just his style of football I don't like. I would get fully behind him if he was our manager though.

That fat Peter pan bloke that's in charge over there is really wound up about it all which is pretty damn funny.

What I find really puzzling is that the club wanted to continue the work and philosophy of Houllier in appointing his replacement - a more patient passing game and a backroom structure that relies on a strong scouting network and development of young players.

I don't see anything on McLeish's CV that would suggest to the board he is a good fit. In fact McLaren would have been a much better option.

They do give the impression, as per Sir GT's comment that they are stumbling from one candidate to another without any clear strategy.

I can't decide who is worse, the media who make up rumours and report them as fact, or, the internet attention seekers who make up rumours and report them as fact.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm so glad I don't have to put up with tabloid media every-which-way I look feeding me bullshit, I only know what I actively research for myself in regards to all the reports.  My advice is to take everything with a grain of salt until there is an official announcement from the club.  Or not.  I've also enjoyed reading the hysteria when I should really be studying and getting my assignments done.

I feel like the Bill Paxton character in Aliens, 'This can't be happening man!'

The thought of going to Villa Park for Mcleish's first game just fills me with dread. I've been a season ticket holder for 15 years through thick and thin but this just feels like a bridge too far.
