This is a shit evening. I am normally getting depressed on Sunday evenings with the thought of work a few hours away and now I am in turmoil!

Randy/Faulkner speak up and give me some hope.

Randy surprised most of us with the appointment of GH from left-field .. I still think there's something like that to come.
George Graham has perm experience and comes cheap!! We might get a defence too!! ;)

I think it's Moyes to Villa and McLeish to Everton.

I have only post once before on this entire thread, stating we would get Moyes...i hope this McLesih thing is a smokescreen for the above to be true

I'm starting to wonder if Randy's given Legion a list of names and a pin and told him to get sticking.

Does anyone else think that the General's posts suggest the new manager will have little or no money to spend?

And that may be why we seem to be scraping round the bottom of the barrel?

No.

Haven't the General's recent posts placed plenty of emphasis on compatability with current players and developing youngsters, and made no mention of the new man having to be good at signing proven top quality players?

Isn't asking permission to speak to Martinez scraping the bottom of the barrel?

I wouldn't say Martinez was scraping the bottom of the barrel. I thought he handled himself extremely at the end of the season (keeping his head / taking the pressure off the players) and that probably made the difference between Wigan staying up or getting relegated. I think he has the potential to be a very good manager myself.

It could be of course that with Blues seemingly having next to nothing to spend on transfers and the possibilty of him not seeing the majority of the money that would be coming in for the likes of Foster, Dann because financially they're in trouble etc, he's decided to get out.
Who wouldn't? Should imagine he's pissed off with how the Blose do things and sees the chance to go now in the hope that he can get a job somewhere else and start afresh.

Two questions:

Is the most likely situation that we're waiting Mark Hughes out until July and have to be seen to be going through due process on all other options in the meantime?

Given the club came out and specifically denied contacting Hughes when he resigned can they also do the same now with McLeish so we can all sigh with relief?

Oh and I've just layed McLeish on Betfair at even money. Easiest £50 I ever made.

Let me make quite clear mcleish would not be anywhere near my top 5 choices but he is not as bad as being painted- i do not have a choice in who manages my club but i do have a choice to support aston villa and i will give him every chance to succeed , rather than be on his back from day one.

I would have gone for hughes or benitez if moyes didnt want it but if its mcleish so be it.
I was against martinez as i felt villa were too big for him at this time but if appointed i would have backed him.

Your right I would give him my backing too. (until we lose the first match ;-) thens it's smithers unleash the hounds.

It doesn't bother me that it a Blues manager, its just the fact he's not very good overall. I have never watched the blues under Mcleish and thought 'blimey they play ttractive footy' or felt at anytime a wish to poach their manager. Apart from the centre halfs the players he has puchased have been distinctly average-poor. He simply does not tick any boxes.

Maybe McLeish and McNeil have their people trying to gauge our reactions on how we'd feel if  they were appointed ;)

This is getting laughable now. I am very frustrated with the media, but I will not let it bother me.

I still have faith in Randy & PF, and I will reserve judgement until the new manager is in place.

I have applauded them up to now on how they have gone about their business quietly and professionally, but i think it is now the time to actually address the media. They are trying to make our club a laughing stock, and if this drags on any longer it may well detract potential managers from wanting the job. The media wants answers and are going about it in the worse possible way trying to derail our preparations for next season. I don't want a repeat of last year, with us having another year to write off. NEEDS ADDRESSING. Which also means NO MCLEISH under any circumstances.

steve mclaren will be the  new forest boss according to talksport- an interesting choice , i was against him when i hoped tge likes of hughes and benitez might come but i think maybe i judged him a bit harshly- anyone else thinking we were maybe too vocal in our rejection of him?

If this does happen it'll be the first time I've genuinely doubted Randy.

Lets just hope it's an overeaction to his Blues resignation and there's no truth in it.
