Does anyone else think that the General's posts suggest the new manager will have little or no money to spend?

And that may be why we seem to be scraping round the bottom of the barrel?

No.

If mcleish was coming from rangers would fans feel different?

As it stands he took blues to their highest league finish in 50 years, into europe and won them
a wembley cup final.

His purchases of dann, johnson and foster were shrewd too.

He got them relegated twice and they were the league's bottom scorers.

As much as I'm thankful for both relegations was he really at fault for the first one?

We are now becoming a laughing stock - this is all so depressing.

Are we chuff. It's the papers that are conjuring up this image of the Villa board being bumbling idiots, but this just isn't the case. All the while this shit-stirring is in the media, Villa have said next to nothing and gone about their business. I don't see the knives out for Chelsea over their lack of manager and their shoddy courting of Guus Hiddinck while he's still contracted to a job. I'm finding the press reaction quite funny now, tbh.

You have to think the media is getting their own back and having a large proportion of Birmingham in a fit by adding 2 + 2. At least that is what I am hoping.

Let me make quite clear mcleish would not be anywhere near my top 5 choices but he is not as bad as being painted- i do not have a choice in who manages my club but i do have a choice to support aston villa and i will give him every chance to succeed , rather than be on his back from day one.

I would have gone for hughes or benitez if moyes didnt want it but if its mcleish so be it.
I was against martinez as i felt villa were too big for him at this time but if appointed i would have backed him.

No.

Haven't the General's recent posts placed plenty of emphasis on compatability with current players and developing youngsters, and made no mention of the new man having to be good at signing proven top quality players?

Isn't asking permission to speak to Martinez scraping the bottom of the barrel?

McLeish doesnt really fit into the Generals's comments of 1 or 2 weeks does it? Ill go with the thought of Blues Board buying M.King without his consent, the confirmed sales of Dann and R.Johnson and possible sale of Foster, McLeish realising he didnt want to risk his rep by not getting them promoted in the 1st year back where they belong. A wise choice IMO.
This makes a lot more sense VTM! As if sense has anything to do with all of this madness! Thank You!

It could be of course that with Blues seemingly having next to nothing to spend on transfers and the possibilty of him not seeing the majority of the money that would be coming in for the likes of Foster, Dann because financially they're in trouble etc, he's decided to get out.
