Reading the GK thread we can expect to wait a week or two before we get our man. I'm confident that RL will do whatever is best for AV.

I also take note that his comments may mean that McLeish is not out of the question!!

If you're gonna take a while bringing in a new manager in, you should really be bringing in a good manager with all that time. How ridiculous would the board look after spending over 2 weeks to find a new manager and then they come up with someone like Grayson or McLeish?

Listened to Gary Richardson programme on 5Live this morning. He interviewed Whelan. It emerges that  the whole thing about Martinez went no further than a conversation between these two. Martinez told him that he will not talk to Villa but he wants a contract that is suitable in the PL. Whelan agreed and that was that.
Whelan admitted that   before this episode Martinez was the lowest paid, by a long way, Manager in the PL.

 So even if we had trebled his salary we  would saved loads compared to last two Managers!
