And I think in his one full year at Ajax they scored 106 goals and let in a very low number, just one of those things that they lost out to Twente probably?

Admittedly, it was Mclaren who finished above him then. But Jol's done much more in Germany and England.

What the hell was Milner doing in the wall just then by the way?!

Jol was managing the biggest club in Holland. McLaren was managing the Dutch Blackburn. Jol hardly pulled up any trees managing one of the biggest clubs in Germany. Either Jol is massively overrated or McLaren isn't given the credit he deserves.

I'm suprised no-one has mentioned Klinsmann. Not sure what he is doing at the moment but he did a good job with producing the players that now make up the german national side. I wonder if he could do a similar job with our youngsters bringing them through the transition to the first team. Of course Ancelotti would be my first choice but Klinsmann could be an outside chance.

I've banged on about Klinsmann a few times.  I think he would be excellent as a director of football* with a Poyet/Clark/Grayson/Martinez as head coach.

He is currently performing a similar role for Toronto Fc but as a consultant rather than fully employed.

I mentioned him about 8 pages back and a few agreed with me that he was a decent option to have.

Mclaren did brilliantly with Twente. It's just that he did poorly with Wolfsburg and England and in my view only averagely at Boro.

Hamburg have generally been between 3rd and 8th in the Bundesliga in recent years, Jol finished 5th. So pretty average.

Klinsmann is right down there as candidates I really don't want. It baffles me that his name is constantly brought up.

With Germany it's pretty much accepted that Joachim Low did the legwork, Klinsmann was more of an inspirational figurehead. Then when his only crack at club management he was utterly disastrous and didn't even last a season. Tactically, he was clueless.

McClaren has achieved more.

Im not so sure. This much money on a Saturday evening?? no real speculation in the press (unlike Ancelotti) I reckon he's nailed on.

Noticed the surge of cash for Benitez on betfair about lunchtime - there is no story or supporting evidence this smacks of in the know punters, writings on the wall here lads he's now in to 3 to 1.

I'm warming to Benitez. Maybe the break from the game will have done him no harm? Could be back to his best now and would be hungry to achieve things with us.

Benitez has come in to being a big favourite on Paddypower as well now.
