The longer this goes on the more I'm warming to benitez. He's available, willing and has a track record.

And he isn't Schteeve Maclaren.

Jol may well be a target, as he's had trophies, but no ITK info.
Ooh, the Dutch Cup with Ajax five years ago and Roda JC nearly two decades ago.

That's worth appointing a manager on.

Merseyside.

I am starting to hope that we get Martinez. He was the architect that made Swansea the fluid footballing side they now are. I think he is hamstrung at Wigan with getting players to go there and I think at a bigger club he could do something special.

Hi Mazrim

It's all a bit hazy with the number of different stories and speculative pieces being reported over the last 48 hours...

However, I'm remembering an extended piece quoted on here from the Guardian, dated 2June? and quoted a few pages ago, a story with 3 bylines as I recall, saying that Hughes was on his way to Villa at that moment, having walked out of Fulham (so it must have been before the club denied contacting him) as well as confirming that Moyes had ruled himself out when asked.  I'd read it somewhere else before that, as well, but sorry, can't remember which paper it was in.

If you're a Moyes fan, the accuracy of the first bit of the article must give you hope as far as assessing the accuracy of the second bit is concerned!

Moyes said something before Houllier had left which effectively ruled himself out, something like "I don't understand where the speculation is coming from and I am not interested in the job".

Basically, when Houllier was incumbent it would have been impossible - or bad form - for him to say anything else.
