Ancelotti didn't have much choice in the transfer market at Chelsea, the decisions were all made by those above him. It would be crazy not to sound him out. He was being linked with the West Ham job a few weeks ago in some London rags. I think Matt Kendrick is entitled to a speculative story given he had the exclusive on Houllier going. I hope he's right with his next one.

This is true, its becoming patently obvious that Abramovich see's a football manager as a grade up from pond life, why he doesn't just manage Chelsea himself is beyond me, if reports are correct he's about to embark on shaping the squad for next season in buying and selling.

I personally would break the bank for Van Gaal, world class, and he has no chips on his shoulder, wouldn't see managing Villa has any kind of climb down after managing the likes of Barca the Netherlands and Bayern, always built great squads and often with teams that are not known for spending like AZ and Ajax, maybe the only thing would be his short temper, after a poor result in a game with Bayern came out and looked at the press and said "p*** of", "mind your own business", which actually i think is what's needed from time to time.

If I was going to bet on this, pretty sure we will have either the likes of Moyes or Hughes in charge shortly...IMO.

However, why has no one mentioned Ian Holloway ?
Why on earth would that footballing genius want to work for a half-arsed club that used to be famous?

Holloway would turn us into a laughing stock.

On, and off the pitch.

I think we should contact his agent and say we're interested, which he'd then leak to the press amid a lot of sucking up to the club and saying what a great job it would be, and then tell him "Nah - only joking!"

Im just not sure about Ancelotti being as hes only won things at big clubs he doesn't strike me as the sort of manager that can inspire young players and wheel and deal in the transfer market.

Moyes all day for me knows when to encourage and can still give a good bollocking without losing the team. And on a side note would love the players hes got at Everton the likes of  Cahill, fellani, Jagielka,Arteta, baines.

Problem is I dont see Moyes leaving so i guess its going to be Hughes, not my choice but would do a decent job without really pushing for honors though

To quote one of Mr Holloways favourites, why would we want a small time manager who used to be in the big time like him in charge of our football club?

I'd actually love a Villa manager to do that - he's just shot to the top of my wish list!

*tin hat on*

I was impressed by the way Blackpool performed at Villa Park, despite all the changes to their first team.  That shows that Holloway knows how to use a squad, if nothing else.

He is still a twat though.

Surely the Holloway post above was some sort of sick joke?

Can we please never again mention Holloway's name on this site other than to take the piss out of him.

As for being manager of Aston Villa Football Club. I think not.

Has anybody mentioned Klinsmann yet? We were strongly linked to him before.

The Carlo story is bollocks.
I think the club have put it out that they're interested in him to put over the 'no stone unturned' angle.
I doubt they've even approached him, and even if they have, I don't think he'd be interested.

It'll be Mark Medicority Hughes.

Yes but you are a miserablist who said we were doomed to relegation so I'm not listening to you.

Come on Carlo, you know you want it.

Good shout.

I think day to day club management isn't something he's interested in though.

Who used to be nearly famous.

Regarding Ancelotti. Am I the only one that would be more nervous of this appointment than that of Martinez. Has he ever had to run the complete playing side of a club, eg developing coaching, youngsters, and searching for players. And has he really achieved anything outside his Italian comfort zone. Did not really do much at Chelsea when you consider the resources at his disposal.
