Ancellotti, just can't see that.

Hughes....screaming mediocrity, is that what we want.

Does anybody realise that one of the games greatest team builders in  Louis van Gaal (correct me if I'm wrong, but personal friend of Doug Ellis as in link) is available.

Isn't it the case that after Houllier we need to show a bit of ambition and intent, get some fear back into the opposition, no!!!!!.

Would love Van Gaal but it would be a gamble.  He is in the top class bracket though.

Let's be honest about the situation we're in: close to half the first team squad almost certainly won't be with us next season, and we were in need of a bunch of fresh faces anyway.

This effectively means that we need to choose very carefully from the available options according to who is likeliest to make the best choices in the market and bring in the kinds of players that will both strengthen us and give us (ideally) some longevity: I see that as being the likes of Foster, Shawcross/Dann, N'Zogbia, Sturridge et al.

The little we've all seen of Ancelotti here indicates he's not exactly that shrewd in the market; likewise, Benitez spent a lot of money on some real flops. Of the serious contenders that leaves Moyes and Hughes. Given the need we have to rebuild, I'd prefer Moyes, but I wouldn't mind either. I think Sparky makes OK choices.

Moyes or Hughes make the most sense to me.

However, why has no one mentioned Ian Holloway ?

Ancelotti didn't have much choice in the transfer market at Chelsea, the decisions were all made by those above him. It would be crazy not to sound him out. He was being linked with the West Ham job a few weeks ago in some London rags. I think Matt Kendrick is entitled to a speculative story given he had the exclusive on Houllier going. I hope he's right with his next one.

The Villa have to appoint the right man who has the club's best interests at heart and is hungry for success. For where we are, I know I'm seemingly in the minority, Mark Hughes would fit the bill whereas the likes of Benitez wouldn't.

He's

1. A twat
2. A disrespectful twat.
3. A twat who firmly belives his own publicity.

Never, ever forget how that contemptible twat referred to us as this season.

The Hughes link is getting stronger and stronger. Come on Randy, please don't go for the easy option in Hughes. Show some ambition.

Holloway would turn us into a laughing stock.

On, and off the pitch.

I agree largely with that, but if we can find a better manager than Hughes who also buys into the long term building of the club, such as Ancelotti, then that would be an ideal scenario.
