I'm fascinated by the way the betting odds suddenly plunge when certain names come into the frame - like Hughes and then Ancelotti. Benitez was dismissed on TS this morning and he's nowhere at the moment compared to the other two, despite being available and a successful manager, apparently a realistic candidate.

Does anybody on here know whether betting firms have an inside line on ITK or if they merely reflect the last 'news' bulletin or speculation on TalkSport?  I tend to think the latter but then think their information must be based on something more substantial because in the end they don't want to lose money!

I think GH was one of the the most overrated and over paid manager in the whole history of football.

He's a nice and polite man, I wish all the best for his health, but as a manager he has been a disaster.

5 mln pounds for what?
With the likes of A. Young, Downing, Albrighton, Bent, Delph, Walker, Clark, Bannan, very gifted players that would play in every P.L. top team, we should arrive in the top six and compete for a domestic cup, certainly not be involved in the fight to avoid relegation.

Anyhow, rumours has it about Ancelotti (please note that Ancelotti has one L, don't know why many  English papers tend to put two).

It'd be fantastic.
Top manager and top man.

I say they'll base their odds on any inside info they have, but also on how the betting is going.  With Villa, it's a case of no real inside info, so they'll change odds as dictated by who's betting on which manager, which is probably influenced by the latest media 'favourite' fo the job.  So they haven't a clue, id essence, but when Kendrick said Ancelotti is Randy's first choice this morning, people started betting on him and that brought the odds in.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that the odds shorten as punters start betting based on the news they read.  I think it's the amount of money being placed that is the catalyst rather than the news itself.  As for ITK I believe they employ experts to help them make an educated guess and then factor that into their risk assessments.  I know for certain that they monitor the bets being placed so that when the nearest bookies to Bodymoor Heath start getting £10k bets they realise that an ITK is trying to make some cheeky money.  That happened when O'Neill left.

Thanks - so more reactive than setting odds for games or races, where form comes into it?

I'd like to think Kendrick is fairly creditable, although maybe that's wishful thinking from me as I really want Ancelotti.

Talksport however talk utter tripe. They reported last summer that Bob Bradley was to be our new manager, and just recently that McLaren was going to West Ham.

If he does it's because he's coming to us - of that I'd be certain.

As and when that happens, we have our answer.

I think its brilliant having this interweb thingy.
At least we all kept fully informed and we all know EXACTLY whats going on at Villa, Fulham, and Everton. I just wish someone could get something from Carlo's house though.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/fulham/8552041/Mark-Hughes-considers-future-at-Fulham-and-could-replace-Gerard-Houllier-at-Aston-Villa.html

The 'break clause' window was on Monday according to Pat Murphy, so if that's true then Hughes is contracted to Fulham again. Here's hoping.

I cant believe anybody is criticising Ancellotti. I mean, are you taking the piss or what?
He won the DOUBLE in his first season in English football. That's pretty special, regardless of his resources.
He's a winner wherever hes been.
As good a manager as we could ever dream of having.

I like Moyes and think hes a good manager, potentially very good if he ever wins something, but he's not fit to deliver Ancellotti's post.

The betting markets in these things are never a good indicator until the very end of the process because it only takes a relatively small bet to swing one candidate in really quickly then when there is real news the book is odds on very quickly and then closed to bets.

That said I really hope that Carlo is coming but cannot see it I think Hughes is becoming more and more likely as no compensation to be paid (or very little) the bring Bowen with him and the money saved pays of Gary Mac.

Ok, if we are picking our ideal candidates then someone like Van Gaal would be brilliant, Ancelotti a close 2nd with Moyes a safe and steady 3rd.

On the flip side, big feck offs going out to Hughes, Holloway and Benitez.

Any of those 3 would do me
