I think his football academy in the states has gone belly up. He invested his personal fortune into it.

Does Freidel have a clause in his contract to say the he has to play every Premiership game? The first game he gets dropped will be a big story in the media.
I agree he is an excellent shot stopper, he has however looked very suspect with crosses and generally commanding his area.
Perhaps an excellent backup keeper and the management team telling him he has to really fight for his place in the team rather than having a  guaranteed first team like he has the last 2 seasons.

Why is Shay Given being ignored?
He was and presumably still is one of the very best.

Perhaps his lack of height is perceived as a problem but he is 6 1.
Maybe his age is a problem at 35 but goalies seem to age well.

Get Shay.

He's probably on so much money at Man City that other clubs can't afford him.

Igor Akinfeev, he's only 6'1, but he's got reflexes out the wazoo and balls and fists of steel.

A terrific keeper but way out of our league.  The wages alone would be crippling for all but Citeh, let alone the transfer fee.

Nice to dream though.

Shay Given would probably take a pay cut to play regularly. He's the sort of guy that just wants to play.
