If "I'm delighted that we chose to spend the money from Milner on Bent" isn't an example of sniping then I don't know what is. That's almost the book definition of it.

However you slice it, Randy still went out and spent 30m of the football club's money on 2 players, plus whatever he is shelling out on wages for those two plus Bradley. Villadawg would only have been happy had we spent a net 30m so that he could then rest easy that Randy wasn't robbing the club blind.

He moved out of his house in Pedmore months ago (see link) and had a house built in Hertfordshire. During the week he rents an apartment near the Mailbox.

I'm not fucking sniping.

Right, so one entire sentence later:

I'm delighted that we chose to spend the money from Milner on Bent.

What's that if it isn't sniping?

Ash is way out of position - playing him in the hole like we do is mad.

When he's on the wing ( right or left) he takes two ( or three) defenders with him, so even if he fumbles about like he does at time, he's still making a nuisance of himself.

Must keep if we can.

It isn't sniping, it is just a bit of much needed context for this sentence...

... Our owner then went out and bought the most expensive player in our history, a proven goalscorer, for 18 million, rising to 24 million pounds...

What is the point of you and Tonto blowing Randy's trumpet over signing Bent and then getting het up about my pointing out that the money for that transfer was raised by selling Milner 4 months earlier?

Whilst I cant help but feel I'm about to want to slit my throat, what is the net spending figures for Spurs and Villa since Randy came in?

It’s difficult to know for certain. One of my big bugbears with PL football is the lack of transparency surrounding player transfers and costs.

Soccerbase.com has a decent transfers section but has too many “undisclosed” fees and don’t provide any summary figures so you have to trawl through and make your own calculations. The transfermarkt.co.uk website is the best site I know of for transfer information but it is by no means faultless.

Spurs Transfer revenue and expenditure - Clicky

2010/2011    1.944.800 £    34    22.352.000 £    37    -20.407.200 £
2009/2010    27.280.000 £    37    35.464.000 £    35    -8.184.000 £
2008/2009    74.844.000 £    40    125.400.000 £    40    -50.556.000 £
2007/2008    20.130.000 £    24    83.732.000 £    28    -63.602.000 £
2006/2007    34.012.000 £    23    53.680.000 £    25    -19.668.000 £
£162,417,200

Villa Transfer revenue and expenditure - Clicky

2010/2011    24.992.000 £    21    32.736.000 £    16    -7.744.000 £
2009/2010    19.448.000 £    15    41.272.000 £    23    -21.824.000 £
2008/2009    3.317.600 £    15    52.184.000 £    19    -48.866.400 £
2007/2008    19.052.000 £    19    21.472.000 £    12    -2.420.000 £
2006/2007    1.386.000 £    17    21.736.000 £    18    -20.350.000 £
£101,204,400

It’s also worth taking into account that when Randy took over, Villa and Spurs were not operating on an level playing field financially. The Villa squad had finished the previous season in 16th and Spurs had missed qualifying for the CL by 2 points. In the five seasons before Randy, Villa spent approx £24m, whilst Spurs spent approx. £97m according to that website.

if he goes this really is a bad trend for the club.........

Bet Spurs said the same when they sold Carrick. Or Keane. Or Berbatov.

The difference is that Spurs spent significantly more on new players than they received from selling players in each of those seasons.

Barry out: Downing and Delph in

Milner out: Ireland, Makoun and Bent in

Ashley out: ?

He may drift in now and again, but his position has been on the wing.

Limiting Ash to a plain out and out winger would be stupid now. He's too good a player and it makes him and us too predictable. For a full back it is great to know exactly where your man is goingbto be every time.

What has happened recently is that he is notionally a wide player but with the freedom to roam as he sees fit.

In the first half he stayed on the left quite consistently, in the second he drifted around more.

This is his best position for me - starting wide left with licence to come in field.
