Not a disastrous first day. Now build on it Bears, maximum batting points please!

I think Frank of this parish is off to the game tomorrow, I expect a full (unbiased!) match report!

Hopefully get 4 batting points. I think 400 by 110 overs is pushing it. Good recovery after 99/5 mind.

Think it is supposed to rain tomorrow. Hopefully Frank will get to see a fair amount of cricket though.

I'm thinking of going on Friday if the weather's okay and we haven't beaten them by then.

it was/is a crap wicket. 200 would have been a good score by the sound of it. 299/6 is excellent

In fairness 150 would have been about par in the conditions.

The likely 330 - 370 should be far too many for a much weaker pears line up to compete with.

COME ON YOU BEARS

The carrot crunchers Worcestershire are 213/7.

Come on you Bears. Skittle them for 240 or so and we should be ok.

Poor end to the day for Worcs. Like Villa, we can't build on a good position

Makes a change our opponents having a bad last hour. I reckon Worcester need 5 to avoid the follow-on. Not sure if we should enforce it anyway though.

Edgbaston pitch has been reported. ECB pitch panel will meet tomorrow. 24 point penalty is possible.

That's interesting. The bounce was certainly very variable and it was being suggested at the ground that the umpires might call in the inspectors

That's bollocks, some pitches see 20+ wickets in a day and don't get reported, 610-19 over two days is not a bad batting pitch.

Further to the above, will the ECB ever report a pitch where it's fucking impossible to take a wicket? Both sides scoring 600+ does not make a match. A bad pitch might be dangerous, but the opposite is a good way to kill cricket as a sport.

I went on Wednesday. Quite a decent contest then, with a good comeback by the Bears when the sun finally showed itself. Were the wickets today mainly coming from the Pavilion/Building Site end?

Metters the lad who took a 5-fer on his debut was bowling from the City End.

I'm not sure how they can potentially deduct points when several of the wickets that have fallen were down to poor shot selection/technique.
