The sun is shining on the first day of the new season. Pity the Bears aren't playing, Edgbaston is a great place to sink a few beers in the sunshine!

Even as a Bears fan I can say that Worcester is just as good, if not better, for sitting in the sun with beer.

I'm going to try a few local grounds in the Birmingham League this year as well, did a few last year, Stratford, Leamington and Himley are all highly recommended for a lazy Saturday in the sun.

You're trying for every cricket ground as well as all the football grounds?? Good grief Dave.

Bit worried about having Botha as our top spinner, but it was the batting that was dreadful last year.

Absolutely, one of my favourite grounds is Worcester.

Sussex for me. Many an afternoon there watching Warwickshire and getting slowly wankered in the sun. Love it.

Canterbury is my favourite "away" ground.

Loved it when they had the tree still within the boundary.

Five minutes to go. Zomerzet have won the toss and put us in. According to Wiki we should have Khan this year, but he's not in the team. Is he joining later or have we got no overseas star this year? If only our England players were 'mental' like Trescothick and refused to play for their country we would have a much stronger team!

Anyway... let's get this season started... COME ON YOOOUUUUUU BEEEEAAARRRSSS!!!

We signed Younus Khan when he was out of the Pakistan squad and it looked like his international career was over. As such this was a good signing for the Bears. Khan is now back in favour with the Pakistani selectors and is in the squad for thier caribbean tour. As it stands he will join the Bears after the tour is finished at the end of May.

Ah, ok cheers. Look forward to him joining. We need him to replace Walking Wicket Westwood who managed another mammoth 5 runs today. Bears 31/1.

Good day for the Bears, 393 - 6 a few minutes before the close with Varun Chopra 170 not out.

Need a consistent summer from the top order. We secured the highest number of bowling bonus points last season, largely thanks to Imran Tahir and Neil Carter. With Tahir back at Hampshire and Carter likely to miss half the season through injury, we could struggle to bowl sides out. The batsman can make up for the inevitable loss of bowling points.

Warning! the batting strip is flatter than a day out at Weston.

Got to be happy with that. good batting strip or not we would have been all out for 170 last season.
