I didnt see the banner and no one where i was sitting was talking about it, the atmosphere was strange yesterday and i dont see how one person putting a banner up had any affect on performance.

The steward took it down before the game kicked off due to all the fans from the lower calling up for it to be taken down.

Fair enough after the game, but to put something like that up before the game has even started isn't the best thing to set the mood.

It riled alot of fans up and perhaps took away some of the days optimism.

Each to their own an all that, but it's really frustrating that someone would put that up when their opinion was clearly that of the minority. It was doing nothing except causing trouble and apparently plugging their website.

Arsehole.

This.

When you say the view expressed was that of the minority (and clearly, to boot) are you suggesting there is a huge groundswell of support behind Houllier?

I can't recall encountering any of this at any games I've attended this season. If I had to quantify it I'd say it's somewhere between casual indifference and outright hostility to the bloke.

A convincing win, and his banner and opinion would have disintegrated into thin air.

Mainly because of the reaction to the fans seeing it.

I came up from the concourse to see many lower holters shouting abuse to the upper holte, more and more people started joining in with the shouts to get it taken down, and eventually the steward removed it because it was getting pretty heated.

If you Google "ilson.villa" you get a profile at the Avillafan.com forum The profile says Steve age 40, Upper Holte. One post "I want my banner back".

Not that that proves anything (just that I am a sad git for looking);

Weren't people in the lower stand complaining about it as it was hanging down too far and was blocking their view, hence the reason the steward removed it?

As if that's anything to complain about this season.

Today we were humiliated by Wolverhampton Wanderers.   We cling to the hope that  at the end of the season we will not be one of the worst three teams in the Premiership.   The club is sleep walking into second rate mediocrity.   Somebody should paint HOULLIER OUT in white paint on the pitch in letters ten feet long.

To be honest, we've been there for some time.

As for the banner, whoever did it has the right to, etc etc, however, its not the most helpful thing to show off at a relegation 6 pointer against a local rival. I was really fucking embarrassed when I saw it on MOTD last night.

I can honestly count on one hand the number of times I've watched MOTD this season. If it comes on, I generally make a point of turning it off.

At least one good thing has come out of this season.

I was away for the weekend and accidentally bumped into it in a pub. Sounded like it was a vile atmosphere down there. Everything has gone so wrong so quickly that my head is spinning.

I saw the banner from the DE lower as I walked to my seat. I felt embarrassed and it really was the start of a bad afternoon. Regardless of how many people by the end of the game agreed with its message it was a stupid and arrogant thing to do. It just glowed with negativity in its made in the garage in five minutes by the spokesman of, well, just him.

And I could not watch MOTD for emotional reasons. Again. What a bloody horrible season it has been.

regardless of the message i though it was rather a poor showing really. Looked liked he'd spent 5 minutes writing it on a sheet he'd just pulled of his bed and it wasn't really spaced out correctly either. A bit of preperation goes a long way.
