Your original point was this:

"there have been times most on here were looking at 7th as a possibility rather than trying to stay up in the last few games. Things are dire now but to say it's all been this bad since he came is complete revisionism designed, I can only assume, to give you another stick to beat Randy with."

I would argue that there has never been a single moment when "most" on here were looking at 7th at all.  You seem to be using one two-game winning streak as your entire evidence for not everything being bad, when in reality it has been.  We've had numerous public relations disasters, some utterly dismal results, and he's got the worst win percentage of any Villa manager since McNeill, and look where that ended.  The players don't want to play for him, and the fans don't want him.

So yes, the man who appointed him, and continues to stand by him has to take the blame.  If we go down, Lerner's ownership will have to be reappraised I feel.

It was 4 wins and 1 draw in 5. I know that included 2 league wins and 1 draw but it's all valid when deciding whether everything's been terrible or not. If you're adamant that everything was awful and all doom and gloom after the 3-1 Blackburn win then we'll have to agree to disagree, but I am absolutely certain that it was not.

I don't disagree with you on the PR disasters, and seeing our level of commitment yesterday was incredibly disappointing. I just find it difficult to see any decent alternatives to the actions Randys taken, given the situation at the time of hiring Ged and since. It's easy to say it's Randy's fault, he hired him. But what better option was there then? What better option was there just before Christmas, a mere few months after making the appointment? Blaming him for everything without offering any plausible alternatives seems grossly unfair to me.

Blame Houllier for dreadful results? Yes. Blame Randy? No way, hindsights bloody great. Sack him now? No looking at recent clubs to do that it diddn't work out for them, and who's going to join a club who gives you all of 6 months?
7th wasn't too far off at one point and the team started to look alot better, it was a huge task but was do-able, but thats completely gone out of the window and his comments of "we were unlucky" is bullshit, we need to make our own luck and his football isn't inspiring, tippy tappy is more frustrating than long ball!

As for the real topic, the banner, maybe at the end yes, but before such a big game what a fuckwit! It doesn't help so why do it? We all have an opinion but theres a time and a place and before a relagation clash isn't!

Liverpool dispensed with Hodgson, and are doing very well under Dalglish.  It's all just about appointing the right man, and Houllier most certainly isn't that man.  There are a lot of managers in the world, but if you limit to those that aren't in work out of some misguided sense of "doing right" then you can't expect to be successful.  If we go down, then as owner Lerner will have to take all the blame.

Who is our Dalglish?

If we sack Houllier, we would have to go all out for the best man, I just don't know who that would be.

Liverpool had someone ready to step in that was sure to galvanise the support in the short term. We don't have that. Can't sack him unless we know there's someone ready to come in who's going to be better.

It was all over Sky Sports which is on every telly inside Villa Park.

And every one was talking about it, so it had a massive effect.

Liverpool had a man ready and waiting in the wings and even then it was a gamble, but kenny had time to turn things around, whoever would come in now wouldnt have a chance.
Yeah Houllier isn't the man i agree with you, but did you see this happening at the start? Another difference with Hodgson is he had a pre season and brought in his own players, we've got a squad loyal to O'neill...

Tho poster who says Houllier will transform the club got the tense wrong.   He has transformed the club.   That is what we who want him gone are complaining about.   Banner or no banner, chant or no chant, booing or no booing, the substantial number of mature, level headed and fair minded Villa fans who want him to be replaced take fully into consideration the disgraceful act of premeditated malice of the previous manager and the long injury list but cannot excuse the endless catalogue of blunders and gaffes Gerard Houllier has made since he took charge of our team.

Today we were humiliated by Wolverhampton Wanderers.   We cling to the hope that  at the end of the season we will not be one of the worst three teams in the Premiership.   The club is sleep walking into second rate mediocrity.   Somebody should paint HOULLIER OUT in white paint on the pitch in letters ten feet long.

What Brian said. Actually, not quite. Add 'fucking' after every 'are', 'is' and 'the'.

Jesus Wept, no.

Since he left us with his personal problems, his managerial career has spiralled downwards.
I love him, but as a Manager he's got nothing to give anymore.

Each to their own an all that, but it's really frustrating that someone would put that up when their opinion was clearly that of the minority. It was doing nothing except causing trouble and apparently plugging their website.

Arsehole.

This.
