What I dont understand is in the cycling Pendleton's opponent clearly elbowed her and should have lost the first leg of the final. But we didnt object......why not?

You cant object...we saw Dave Brailsford speaking to the French Judge trying to explain what happened but it is his decision and he awarded the race to Anna Meares

From the commentary I heard, I'm not even sure that what the Aussie rider did (ie leaning in) was against the rules

Pendleton is on record deescribing Mears as a dirty b**** in previous tussles between them!

It's not, but the judges can take into account other reasons for coming out of the sprinters lane. They decided that Vicky deliberately came out to block off Mears and not because of the action of Mears on the corner.

How come the Americans are allowed to race in their PJ's when the rest of the women have to run in their knickers?

Having checked quite a few pairs of knickers and all in ones in the last few days - I can confirm they are free to wear what they want providing it fits the rules on adverts. I could bore you with IOC rule 50 but won't.

Doyou have to check them afterwards as well? How much for a pair of Ennis's?

Think she might have left a pair on my bedroom floor the other night!

Hope you did her proud. After that fantastic effort she deserved it.

Was that after she recovered from the rohypnol?

After throwing out the 8 badminton players earlier in the games for not trying, surely the Australian team should also all be thrown out, double standards here from the IOC.

Actually, up until Anna Meares and Sally Pearson I had been trying to work out why Australia had boycotted the Olympics.

So good - she had to pull out of the individual 100m hurdles

I was angry that Victoria got relegated I thought she won fair she didn't look like she bumped Anna Mears.

Jessica Ennis gold postbox in Sheffield vandalised

A postbox that was painted gold in Jessica Ennis's home city of Sheffield, to celebrate her Olympic triumph, has been vandalised.

The graffiti was scrawled on the postbox in Barkers Pool in the city centre.

A new layer of gold has been applied by a Royal Mail employee, a Sheffield City Council spokeswoman said.

Ennis received the honour for winning the gold medal in heptathlon at the London Games.

One person who saw the graffiti said: "It's disgusting. It's a shame. I have a lot of respect for Jessica Ennis and what she's done for Sheffield."

A Royal Mail spokesman said it was "extremely disappointed" about the vandalism.

"We have teams around the UK which look after and maintain our 115,000 post boxes and we have already repaired the damage to this box," he added.

Leader of Sheffield City Council, Julie Dore said: "We are all so proud of Jess and her fantastic success, which is not only a great achievement for her and her team but also is a huge achievement for the city.

"This is our moment to shine so what a shame it is that someone has chosen to tarnish this by vandalising a postbox painted gold in honour of our local hero.

"I hope they feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves."

Before those 2 we were told to explain to any foreign competitors the differences in the English language.

You say "Great Britain won Gold" and "Australia one Gold" almost a week of winding up Aussies.

She didn't, she cycled above the red 'sprinter's line', which is the line below which the cyclist on the inside of the track must stay so he/she isn't gaining unfair advantage over the cyclist trying to come around on the outside.
Harsh but ultimately fair I'm afraid.

It's the second time she fouled up as well, you would think when you have dedicated years to a particular sport that you would know the rules, and be able to abide by them, same applies to Jonathan brownlee yesterday,
No excuses I'm afraid

Just flicked onto the Spain v France basketball and seems something is amiss. Commentators seem unhappy with something, no idea what though.
