Through to the semi final in the Hockey after a nervy draw against the Spanish.

Very nervy, but god knows what the Spanish coach and players were moaning about when the right decision on the last minute pen corner was reached by the refs conferencing together.

How come the Americans are allowed to race in their PJ's when the rest of the women have to run in their knickers?

BBC commentators seemed convinced 1500 metres winner Makhloufi was doping. Either they know something we don't or they 're going to owe someone an apology.

Wonderful stuff from Horse Guards Parade.

Beach volleyball in the pissing rain, now that's made me proud!

The only downside is that in the Womens competition, the USA won both semi's and will play each other in the final.

How come some sports allow more than one competitor / team per country but cycling is restricted to just one?

As Simon Brotherton was saying on the radio commentary, this rule means that the standard of competition is a lot lower than at the World Championships.

I thought the race looked odd. He ran the middle 200m of the last lap in 25 secs and blew a field full of Kenyans away. His improvement has come from nowhere apparently which always gets suspicions up by those who look closely at these things.

Having checked quite a few pairs of knickers and all in ones in the last few days - I can confirm they are free to wear what they want providing it fits the rules on adverts. I could bore you with IOC rule 50 but won't.

As discussed previously (possibly on this thread  - not sure) government funding is based on the number of medals won.  Today we reached the government’s target of 48 medals which will make it difficult to cut the cash based on their own rules.  That’s the theory anyway, watch this space in November.

A couple of questions if you don't mind

1. Why don't they have the 100m on the final night in the stadium? It's often the most hyped / anticipated, so why not end on it? Do the organisers decide the order of events or do the IOC? - last weekend would have been the perfect one to end on from a British perspective.

2. Does Philips Idowu receive public funding? - I know he says not but UK athletics suggest he does.

Ta
