We've gone from being interested in Cole who's in the Bannan,Ireland role. Now were after Jenas who is in the Delph,Petrov role. Does this mean we've given up hope of signing a link man,as it seems McCleish has no faith in Ireland(unsuprisingly)

spurs fans seem quite pleased to be offloading hutton which isnt the best of signs.
levy pulled off another smart move getting parker for just £5m.
5 kids outside their ground.Yes he must be shit.

was referring to their forums !

First of all, Hutton i'm fairly happy with if it comes off. I admit i've not seen a great deal of him, but Mcleish has worked with him before, knows him inside out and i would presume he was his No.1 choice to replace Luke Young.

Jenas though i'm afraid is scraping the bottom on an almost empty barrel and to answer someone else's question from earlier, no, i can't see why he's got rid of Makoun just to bring him in, a bit pointless really imo.

mcleish has worked with stephen carr and knows him as well-would you be happy then clampy.

Agree letting makoun go seems a silly move.

I am really pissed off from a footie/villa on the pitch p;oint of view as have never known a transfer window where 15 squad players leave, 2 come in and potentialy 2 more apparently.
But to answer above question its all about salary savings this year. McLeish was the guy who Randy deemed could work with a small squad and just survive this year i guess
What's going to happen come Xmas with injuries and suspensions i don't know but totally understand the salary bit....McLeish will be like God to Randy working like this.
McLeish with the fans will be different but he can't lose as he is simply working within the framwework given to him by his boss

Hutton was brilliant for Rangers and Scotland under McLeish, hence the 9 million fee. He might turn out a lot better than people think, certainly think he will be an upgrade on Luke Young at right back, shame he could not have stayed and played left and Warnock fecked off.

Anyhow, the snobbery on Jenas is quality. He is a player who has played in the top 6 or so most of his career, Champions League, captained his sides, and is only 28. We are badly light of a central midfield player who is more of an all round player than one or the other. Sure I would like another body, a McGugan or Kayal too, but Jenas will be a good signing IMO, and on loan what have we to lose. I would certainly sooner have him than not, when you consider if Delph or Petrov are out we currently play......

Ah yes. . we don't.

What a depressing day.

Yes a far cry from a couple of years ago when we awaited our next multi million signing
I take it that spurs saying theyve accepted a fee of £4m from fulham for hutton means we will have to up our bid due to fulhams late interest?

I would love to open up an M16 on those Stoke fans. Scumbags.

RE: Jenas and Hutton, if they do sign they're decent signings. Obviously I think it's silly to get rid of Makoun, but we will see what Jenas can offer. Hoping Hutton can finally solve our RB problems. We shouldn't complain too much, Jenas and Hutton is better than bringing no-one in.

Jenas is a good signing, particularly as we are light in CM.

However, he is neither a DM or ACM and we still need one or the other joining today for us to have a relatively balanced squad this season.

A balanced squad with 5 players that can play at RB.  ???

Ok what will Jenas add to our midfield that we haven't got already?

I actually think Hutton is potentially a good player and Jenas can be decent as well. However it doesn't change the fact we look hugely unambitious, and those running the club have made a complete and utter mess of it at the moment.

Experience, um, he likes dudes, um, ok he is exactly the same as Delph & Petrov and possibly worse than Makoun but nevermind.

Plenty of premier league experience and player that should really fit straight in

he is a decent player and very under rated in my opinion
