I've seen gabby alongside bent and it doesn't gel, fonz has potential but we've seen what happened before bent came- 2nd from bottom !

As opposed to 6th the season before?

meaning what clampy? proving gabby is not the player he was 2 years ago and our top  scorer when we were 6th was carew , who is not here , so what point are you making?

we are talking now not 2 years ago when milner, young and carew were in the team that finished 6th clampy. are you saying you think we will score plenty of goals without bent ?

as i said in the original post im not saying campbell is who id go for but i think we need someone.

What i'm saying is Eastie that we was'nt 2nd bottom last season because Fonz was up front like you suggested earlier, it was because we had a shit load of injuries. Bringing in the likes of DJ Campbell is just going to push Fonz down the pecking order.

Dave are you serious- asking why some villa fans would give a fuck whether he's played for blues - didn't you see the anti blues graffiti when eck came- oh of course not you live in bath.

I couldn't care who played for blues but some clearly do.

Back up a second toronto. You said that if he hadn't played for Blues then people would be more open to it. I said that I didn't give a toss about his previous clubs. Just like McLeish, people's objections will be because he is shit, not because he happened to have played for another local club.

I'll ignore the Bath comment. I certainly don't need some jumped up little Sky Sports News obsessive to let me know my own mind, ta.

How many people have you seen complaining about the possibility of Dann coming in? None? Doesn't that make your little theory pretty redundant?

And a couple of dimwits with spray cans doesn't change it at all.

there will always be some who object to ex blues players dave - to say he is shit is ridiculous - a guy who scored 13 goals in last years premiership ?

ok you dont think hes good enough - fair enough , but shit is a silly comment for a fan to make about a player whos proved himself in the premiership.

The thought of someone like DJ Campbell representing my club just about fills me with dread.
He can take his tattoo'd neck, tramlined hair and gold teeth and fuck off !!!!!!!!!

clampy , i know fonz wasnt up front much last season and i rate him above gabby and heskey long term but my concern is if bent gets injured that the other 3 will not score enough goals .

You may be right but i hardly think DJ Campbell is going to make much of a difference.

not heard anything on the warnock story - right im off to watch the test match.

the people were reporting the campbell story-

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is trying to beat QPR to the signing of DJ Campbell – marking a sentimental return for the Blackpool striker.

The Seasiders have agreed a £1.25million fee for Campbell with Neil Warnock’s Premier League newcomers.

But Hotline can reveal that Villa’s new boss believes he is leading the race for the 29-year-old forward.

I've seen gabby Play enough alongside bent and it doesn't gel, fonz has potential but we've seen what happened before bent came- 2nd from bottom !

Bent is our saving grace and if injured long term we are fucked.

Gabby and Bent worked well enough on Wednesday.

did you think they worked that well

Yes I did, the clue is in the words that I posted.

sorry chris , you forgot to answer how many shots on target we had ?
too often they got in each others way and gabby is not best suited to the role he played on wednesday , plenty of effort i agree.
nzogbia i think will complement bent superbly , not sure id go with gabby at fulham though.

dj campbell came throught the academy at villa before being told he wasn't up to scratch and being moved on, however for sub 2 million for a back up striker is worth a punt,

this pains me to say but im starting to think fonz wont make it, theres a good reason burnley and the eng u21 didnt play him last season. i think hes losing his way a little, we need bent amc sid and kmac to work together to get him back on track or its the way of the moores for him

DJC would be ok as an extra 'insurance policy' for our attacking options for less than £1.5m. Like Eastie pointed out, he did OK last season. I'd certainly be happier than when we signed Harewood for £4m. You wouldn't imagine his wages would be much either.

He does look like a bit of a twat though, i agree there.

sorry chris , you forgot to answer how many shots on target we had ? right time for cricket.

I didn't forget, I ignored it because it was a daft question. The two of them complemented each other well, Gabby's running gave Bent more space by occupying Samba. He was also often the out ball and the man who carried it forward. It's not going to be perfect this early in pre-season but there were encouraging signs.

It was noticeable that Blackburn had much more more of the game after Gabby went off. I wouldn't expect you to have been aware of this though as the commentators didn't mention it.

Shame really had high hopes for Fonz..........he always looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights and playing on the wing is not his forte.

The thought of Adolf playing for us though is something really hard to get my head around!

Sunderland after Warnock for £3m?

If i felt confident we would replace him quickly i would snap their hand off. As it is, i'm not so sure.
