Gabby and Bent will not work. People hear are kidding themselves about Gabby being useful wide in a 3 either. Lets face it, he has one position and one position only up front by himself. He has been pretty successful at it too, 16 goals in 09/10 in a fine season but Bent will always be a better goal threat. His movement is in a different league to Gabby and will guarantee more goals. Gabby has other qualities but lacks the guile of Bent as a single forward and isnt intelligent enough to partner him or anyone for that matter. Pretty harsh on Gabby who 12 months ago was probably worth close to the 10m mark but its time we started looking for other options.

P.S. Didnt realise Odemwingie is 30.

well said,i agree with those comments.
So your worry about what we do if Bent gets injured is daft then?

We play Gabby up front on his own

Not sign and play DJ fucking Campbell.

What would you know about it Dave, you live in Bath you know.

not quite that easy dave , as it stands if bents injured and gabby plays alone up front he will not score  as many as bent as his finishing isnt nearly as good .

if bent were injured i think we would need to go 442 , we can only get away with one striker when hes as good a finisher as bent .

the game is all about opinions and who is to say who is right or wrong - would be boring if we all agreed on everything .

I would much, much rather have Agbonlahor up front on his own that DJ Campbell! Blimey, Eastie! Of all the players to get in a row about!

Gabby will be off anyway if he's a reserve or stuck out on the wing. Given his age and his record he could quite easily be a starter in at least the bottom half of sides inthe premiership, so he's not going to waste more than a year in the stiffs before moving on.

no row  citizen, the people reported dj campbell and we are discussing our forward options -id love to see sturridge on loan but i dont know if chelsea wish to loan him out again.

just to clarify clampy , there was no reference to people in bath not knowing about football , i meant that the villa blues hatred sometimes doesnt come across as bad to some outside the area as it does to people locally -was in no way meant as any kind of offence, and id be more than happy to buy dave a pint next time hes up here.

Big season for Gabby this year. Not over convinced by him atm, previously a big fan of his, thought he had everyting, but certainly went backwards last season, have'nt really seen him "bust a gut" to impress his new manager.I really hope he does play successfully alongside Bent, but i'm not over-optimistic.

Delf is a centre foward, full stop.Could be a good one, not sure he could play alongside Bent, but think he could alongside Gabby/Weimann.

£3M for Warnock?........yes if we can get Enrique for £6m

Gabby's problem seems to be related to struggling to find a place in the team. He and Bent have failed to gel so far. If Bent gets injured and Gabby has to play on his own up front then he would have a place in the team that he is confident off. Gabby has scored 13-15 goals in a season too you know and then he had to share the chances with better players than Campbell had to last season.

I'm not saying we don't need a striker. One more might be a nice thing to have. But if we get one I'd like it to be someone better than DJ Fucking Marlon Harewood MK2 Campbell. You could probably put that £1.25million + £20K per week for two years to better use by funding the wages of Mahamadou Diarra on a free. A player we need.

DJ Campbell would be about as uninspiring as it gets.

Enrique is such a good player, but i think Newcastle would want more than £6m for him unfortunatley. I reckon they'll sell him just before the transfer deadline though so Ashley won't have to spend the money to replace him.

Trouble is, if AM only plays 1 striker who are you going to attract for a reserve role. Whoever comes in will be fighting it out for sub appearances with Gabby, Delf and Ivanhoe. Not exactly the most attractive proposition

I think that's right, Greg, so I think we have limited funds, or indeed are limited to loan signings, then I'd say strikers are a little way down the list.

Of course, there is still time for things to change; if Heskey were to leave, for example, then we may want to bring in a replacement.

But not DJ Campbell.
