From what I've seen he's reluctant to use his left as he's not as consistent with it. But he wasn't useless with it.

642 pages so far. 2 best players sold. 10+ released. A least 2 spongers still on books eg Beye & Heskey. 1 mediocre keeper signed. Reverse gear. Relegation scrap ahoy.

Had you ever even heard of Arsenio Halfhuid, Durrell Berry, Ellis Deeney and Calum Flanagan before they became part of this "Ten players released, the sky's falling in" idiocy?

Come on, everyone knows that if we'd kept those players and the likes of Pires and NRC we'd be talking about being title contenders.

Just accept it Dave, the title dream left with them.

Aye, just like when Herbert dismantled the EC winning side.

Further proof that cheapskate Lerner is morphing into Doug.  Maybe.

We've been heavily linked with Parker. don't see what the problem is with anticipating/hopeing we sign him. Its not as if i'm not aware that he does'nt play for us .

mcleish said 2 weeks ago that dann was well beyond our price range and there would only be one quality player coming in , wage issues , utilising squad , etc - id love parker and dann but its not going to happen!

It could have been a bluff, it could have been meant until the season starts or it could have meant we won't sign anyone else after N'Zogbia. I'm not prepared to rule anything out yet.

That said I'm willing to believe we won't sign anyone else if it means this thread will get locked and we will all have some respite from the bullshit rumours in the media.

why spoil it for everyone-if you dont like the thread then dont read it - simple!

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keen to sign Spurs defender Alan Hutton, but must fund the move by selling defenders Habib Beye, Luke Young and Carlos Cuellar.

full story here without gordons twisted words in his version of it-

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is set to go after Spurs defender Alan Hutton - once he has signed Charles N'Zogbia.

Villa yesterday agreed a £9.5million fee for Wigan winger N'Zogbia, and the Frenchman is now set to pen a five-year contract at Villa Park worth £60,000-a-week.

The 25-year-old has been a priority signing for McLeish, who has seen Villa sell Engand wingers Ashley Young, to Manchester United, and Stewart Downing, to Liverpool, this summer.

Now McLeish, currently in Hong Kong with his squad for the Asia Trophy tournament, will focus on other, cheaper, targets including Scotland international right-back Hutton

McLeish has used most of his budget on N'Zogbia and aims to create room on his wage bill by moving on £40,000-a-week flop Habib Beye.

The Senegalese full-back can leave on a free - if he can find a new club.

Villa will also listen to offers for other players with just 12 months left on their contract, such as defenders Carlos Cuellar and Luke Young.

McLeish hopes their exits will enable him to sign Hutton, 26, who he managed at Rangers.

N'Zogbia's transfer is set to be finalised later this week, but he will not join Villa's Far East tour as he does not have a visa.

McLeish has been after the star for a month and clearly rates him highly, as he also tried to buy the Frenchman for previous employers Birmingham City.

Listening to offers doesn't mean that he's got to sell all three before bringing in Hutton.

Losing Beye and signing Hutton wouldn't exactly be a disaster

I doubt he'll want to let Luke Young go, bearing in mind he can cover left back.

Indeed. A load of old bollocks. Luke wont be leaving and will most likely see his contract out.
Moving Beye on is a good idea though if it can be done.

I don't mind the idea of going for Hutton but I'd rather not have to deal with Spurs and their hilarious valuations.
Luke Young with Lichaj as back up is O.K.

I like Hutton but wouldn't want to pay more than £4m for him. I really hope we can fuck Beye off, but I really doubt it.

Beye is going nowhere and he'll be a boil on our backside until his contract runs out.  I wouldn't mind if he was any good.

I agree

Plus it has been heavily reported that we were never interested in parker due to the fact that he would cost something upwards of 15 million over 4 years and at approaching 31 I reckon he has 2 years left.

When Nzogbia signs that will be it apart from maybe some cheapo loan signings

We are stuck with him and I fear Ivanhoe
