Looking back in last 5 years under Randy Lerner we haven't bought anyone from lower level in English football Under O'Neill or Houilller apart from Delph. I mean Shaun Teale type signing.

According to the General it was. He was the manager when the deal was struck wasn't he? I'm pretty sure this has been discussed a hundred times anyway.

The Milner/Ireland deal was signed and sealed after MON left. Milner played against West Ham sure. MON may have agreed to the deal but it certainly wasnt signed and sealed until after he left no matter what Krulak, Lerner or anyone who cant see the wood from the trees says.

The word potential should be banned from use, i remember being told how the Moore brothers were future long term England players and would be the foundation of future Villa sides. If your lucky one every three or four years will make it the rest go the way of the brothers.I am not saying they will not have a career in football just that most will not be of premiership standard.

I really hope that Naughton is in the 3-4 million range of Matt Kendricks possibles - he is exactly the type we should be after.

Is there not an athletic, decent ball winning midfield player in the championship we can steal!?

i dont think we are talking £3m or £4m for extra additions , maybe a loan and a £2m signing at best - i see now we have a keeper that blues are prepared to loan foster for £1m on a season loan if anyone wants him.

kendrick implied we may be able to wheel and deal a bit if we sell more players so i hope the £2m for carlos would be made available.

also rumours this morning that nzogbia is prepared to strike to get a move and villa poised to up their bid so i expect this sealed before we fly away on saturday.

it will be a transition season of trying out the younger players and using the squad we have and in a years time alex will know who is and who isnt up the task, and with heskey , beye and others gone we will hopefully be able to bring in more players -the younger lads will get their chance this season and its down to them to grasp it.

i see us finishing mid table again and hope eck doesnt get criticised too much as hes having to inherit the financial mess that o neill created.

I expect a bit of progress on N'Zogbia soon.
Not impressed with the strike he is meant to be going on, I see this as bad attitude, obviously I want him, as he's a good player, but 2 good seasons at Villa Park, will he be striking to get a move away from us? We don't want players coming in who rock the boat.

I wouldnt read too much into that im guessing its just rumours spread by someone like his agent just to get the deal pushed through

I was surprised that AM was interested after Nzogbia took the piss with his wage demands at Small Heath

maybe that's why we shouldn't believe everything that is reported, the story could have been exaggerated. I wouldn't have thought AM would be a guy that likes being messed around with I guess they just couldn't agree a figure

MON didnt sign the cheques, his scouting and eye for a player were very mixed, down right unimaginative for the most part but blame should go to the board for our financial position.

Pretty ironic that the deal fell through for McLeish at Blues when the player/agent moved the goalposts at the last minute, and now it looks like being scuppered by Whelan doing the exactly the same with the fee

Come on, he won't need to go on strike to get a move from us.
