I expect a bit of progress on N'Zogbia soon.
Not impressed with the strike he is meant to be going on, I see this as bad attitude, obviously I want him, as he's a good player, but 2 good seasons at Villa Park, will he be striking to get a move away from us? We don't want players coming in who rock the boat.

Come on, he won't need to go on strike to get a move from us.

Yeah and we needed worry about his attitude when playing for us as as soon as any reasonable offer comes in next season the board will flog him off to make an extra £5M

Hadn't they agreed a figure then Nzogbia upped it by 10K????

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/wigan_athletic/8944205.stm

You mean he turned up at small heath and only demanded 10K more? seems a decent fellow already sign him up.

Joking aside I doubt Mcleish would worry to much if that was the case seems to be the mind set of most modern footballers these days thats what you have to live with and try and manage

I think the phrase 'transitional season'  should be banned.

We definitely wont be going for Parker as he has made it clear that he wants to stay in london. AVFC no longer interested.
Source - Dean Scoggins of The Sun

The same reporter saying that AVFC are currently in a stand off with Wigan about the fee.  It was understood that WAFC were willing to sell for £9m but DW has now moved the goal posts.  AVFC the only interested party.

As I agree with everyone's standpoint about the N'Zog fee, like that bloke in the Fast Show, can I suggest £9.5m?

I think he's a real class player, and hard-working too, if Villas Boas scouting is to be believed.

Exactly.
Surely that will be the outcome.

As an aside, Blackburn are trying to get Junior Hoilett to sign a new contract, be nice if we could swoop but it's never going to happen.

press reports that we are going in with improved bid - i think £9.5m will clinch it!

Aston Villa are set to table a fresh bid for Wigan star Charles N’Zogbia.

Villa boss Alex McLeish is desperate to land N’Zogbia to replace Stewart Downing.

A compromise is expected after Villa bid £9million and Wigan demanded £10m for the winger.

Big Eck made Manchester City keeper Shay Given his first major signing earlier this week, but must wheel and deal to make further buys.

Oh yes, very good player. Shame it's only the one if true.

I did say that all along and if true we've saved ourselves £500,000 rather than leaping in paying Whelan off.

That's what pisses me off if it's true about 'just one player'
How can you possibly be that inflexible when an opportunity might come along for a quality player?

Hoilett would fit nicely in our set up.

And if true, that £500k could go towards a future players wages.

I suspect if we are going back it's with the £10 million.

I agree, i cant see us offering £9.5 when DW clearly wants the full £10m.

I doubt it.
It's just the usual to and froing of negotiation.
Whelan knew very well he wouldn't get the full 10, but knew he might squeeze an extra half a mill out of it.
