There's still plenty of time left to get players in, we're just going to have to be patient. It could be that deals are done and we're waiting for the selling club to get replacements in. Mcleish knows we need a goalie and he's said he want's a replacement for Ash, so i'm sure the club are working on it.

If mcleish were to go after a spurs striker it would probably be pav as he wanted him last season but I think he has far more important positions to sort out and we quite well off striker wise unless gabby or emile were to go.

We are being linked left right and centre but I'd like to see some actual deals being done as it's always nice to have a squad settled for pre season rather than adding players later in pre season- training begins this week and I expected a keeper at least , but hopefully things are happening behind the scenes.

Pre-season training must be great with no keeper on the 1st team side

If Bent were to get injured, where would the goals come from?

Gabby has hardly ever been prolific and Heskey couldn't hit the proverbial cows arse with the proverbial banjo.

Wouldn't bet on emile finding the net even with no goalkeeper in it.

You forgot his trophies at rangers and his making Scotland competive as well as blues highest finish in 50 yrs and cup final win with a place in Europe- yes blues went down but don't paint the picture as all bad .

well scotland who cares? enough old firm managers who've proved you can be complete bobbins and win something up there.  As for the winning the worthless, if it was villa i 'd have rather stayed up personally given the choice.

Anyway my point was, in relation to the manager we have, if the media know very little and need to make stuff up then they're hardly going to link us with top players, just more of what he's known for buying. Would we be linked with Jerome if Rafa was manager? I think not.

So fucking what? Who cares who we're linked with in bulshit internet rumours?

When we sign players you don't like it's fair enough to have a go but whinging over the poor level of made up rumours is about as daft as it gets.

well if you don't want to talk about bullshit internet rumours isn't this the wrong thread for you? Instead of trying to dictate what everyone else talks about, I suggest you go and boil your fat head or better still try and get your old job back as the General's bodyguard which obviously suits your need to control everything.

Surely AM needs pre-season to start before he makes big changes, gets a proper feel for the players.

Ok, he knows he needs a keeper and that may well happen soon.

And he knows Ash has gone.  From scouting and DVDs, he'll know of MA's potential but with SD unsettled as well, a winger is another dead cert.  He almost signed N'Zogbia so he might move on that too.

Otherwise, though, he needs to see and talk to the squad.  SD, RD, SI, SW, JC, CC... he needs to know where they are at and which of the young guys are ready to step up.  Like it or not, most of our action will come later in the window, possibly even in January.

Steady on, let's keep it to transfer talk rather than Chris's freakishly large, bulbous head.

Did Carew join Stoke or has he gone elsewhere? I know he has left villa as a free agent but haven't heard him mentioned talking to anyone ?

Surely Nigel should swallow his pride and accept the offer we made him , if Albion are his best offer he will be better staying at villa if the offer still stands.

Carew is clubless. I'd rather we don't resign him unless AM wants to arrange running contests in training between him and Richard Dunne for amusement purposes.

It would be like leaving your wife having told her that you think you can do better. Then coming back to her a few months later, tail between your legs because none of the birds fancied you. She'd probably tell you to fuck off, or if you're really unlucky, and she does take you back, you'd be her bitch for life.
