Finished 2nd and 3rd with Motherwell in SCottish Premier that is not a bad feat by anyone standards

That along with getting the Rags to 9th and winning a cup suggests that he does have something about him and that Greg is either ill informed (again) or on a wind up (again) or both (again).

Whether that something is enough to revitalise us is another thing altogether but we're clearly not talking about a complete duffer as some people pretend.
No he's not a 'complete duffer' he's simply not good enough.
Winning a cup is not much good if you're going to relegate your team at the end of the same season.

It is if you're the Blues. They clearly didn't have the squad for runs in both cups and the league but they're used to being relegated every few years, winning a cup is once in a lifetme.
They were extremely thin on the ground post League cup win and AM still put out his strongest side against Bolton in the FA Cup

Phillips up front.
What other options did he have ? Zigic and Martins injured.Phillips has scored goals for them and did so against Bolton that day to make it 2-2

If they wanted to believe that the positives were an indication of what he might be capable of then they'd be a normal football fan hoping for the best.
Would you trumpet anything positive if he wasn't our Manager Chris?

You wouldn't. If he had nothing to do with us and I asked you your opinion of his record you'd say 'He's shit'

If he wasn't our manager I don't suppose I'd have looked at his record but would have said shit because he was at the Blues. The reality is that it's mixed and would be factually inaccurate to say anything else.

None of us woild have picked mcleish as first choice but I certainly wouldn't have said he's shit - there are many I'd choose ahead of him but equally many more far worse and we have to accept that for whatever reason we are not going to attract the very best managers to our club.

Let's hope we get some transfer activity soon.

Alex is our manager now and it saddens me that some seem to be almost wishing him to fail just to prove a point - he deserves a chance before people get on his back, and if he fails then by all means have a go but this apathy towards him is very disappointing.
I'm well aware that he's our Manager and I want him to succeed, but the fact remains that his record is pretty sub-standard and the original point was that Scottish football is of a shit standard.

Case in point Kris Boyd

Was shit at Middlesbro
Exactly.
There are a few that spring to mind.

Marco Negri (you might well say who the fuck is that) scored 23 goals in his first 10 games for Rangers.

Chris Commons leaves Derby and becomes the Scottish equivalent of Messi

Add kenny Miller to the list as well

Chaps this is all very interesting but can we get back to talking about transfers..........
Certainly.

From footynow.com

Alex McLeish is poised to make a £5m double swoop for Birmingham City's Stephen Carr and Maik Taylor.
McLeish is eager to install a new number 1 at Villa following the departure of Brad Friedel and the former Rangers chief sees Taylor as the stalwart that can do a professional betwen the sticks throughout next season.

The right back spot is also a potential problem position for McLeish as he does not have complete faith in Luke Young and is still unsure about reserve player Eric Lichaj who spent a few weeks on loan at Leeds United last season.
He sees the experience of Carr, who became his club captain at the Blues, to be the perfect compliment to the Villa defence.

Well said chris smith!

Winning trophies is what we all dream of and I'm sure most blues fans waiting a lifetime would not swap their cup win for 17th place in the league- they will get back up soon enough but how long will we wait for a cup final win?

You are kidding.
I don't know one Dogshitter who would take a league cup win over being in the Premiership.

Fletch, there are those amongst the four legged sub humans who gladly accepted winning a cup over relegation. Because who knows when they'll win one ever again. They always come back up eventually, off course we all pray they never do so in our lifetimes and those of our grandchildren. The crazy thing is that there were nutters on here that were saying they'd accept relegation if we won a cup. Make of that nonsense what you will.

Not for me, I've never been a big fan and he appears to have gone backwards.

Seems to have lost the work ethic that he used to have.
Always looked like he couldn't give a shit for Liverpool.

I agree!  there must be a reason why Jose and Capello as well as Hodgson and Kenny didnt play him on a regular basis.  Overrated....Very overrated!

footynow.com must be a wind up site run by a blue nose if this is what has been extracted from there lol!  This will NEVER happen.

in other news it was reported over the weekend that Marlon King wants to team up with Marlon Harewood at the Villa. Harewood has been sounded out by AM for a sensational return to the number 9 shirt he will occupy once Ireland moves to Newcastle. King has called McLeish saying he only signed at the scumbags because of him, and now wants to join us. He feels he can add value to the AVFC brand across Britains numerous prisons and penitentiaries. This all comes in light of the fact that Darren Bent is unsettled at his supply chain being disrupted and will sign for Chelsea for 13 million, dropping to 6 million based on goals scored. I cannot believe Faulkner, (aka the anti-Christ) would do this to us but there you go.

seems like you got some of them going with that one fletch!

I'd rather persevere with Ireland and try and get him performing than go down the joe cole route- another player who seems to have lost his way.
