Man shitty  pull out of Sanchez deal..     Come on Alex , it makes sense ....
Our Alex is actually trying very hard to get Sanchez.

Hugo Sanchez that is.

Might make Milner feel a little happier ...     sanchez is good , f**king good...

Agreed, total superstar. I love the thing he does where he switches from one foot to the other to beat his man, it works almost 100% of the time.

Seems they're having a few problems signing players, as soon as they show an interest teams bump the prices up to humungous amounts, mind you, they've brought it all on themselves.

I could see McLeish going back to Spurs for Bentley.
Plus there was some poncey Ranger Rover with "DB 7" plate near Villa park a couple of weeks ago.

I'm sure Darren Bent won't mind you calling hsi taste in cars poncey.

The Guardian seemed to have linked us to a loan move for Sergio Canales of Real Madrid. Interesting move, but not sure what to make of it. An exciting talent, no doubt, and will certainly have to look elsewhere to get game time, but is he fit/strong enough for the English league? Also as young as he is, would the team not benefit from more experience than guile? Will it not be to the detriment of the possible pitch-time for others of our youngsters who can play in a similar role, such as Bannan? Ultimately, is it even a possibility for Canales to consider the move?

You dont seriously think Bannan is as good as Canales do you? It would be interesting if we could get him. It all depends on how well he'd adapt as you say.

We've already got more canales than Venice. He'd feel at home in no time.

sky transfer report saying nzogbia to villa at £9m and given to villa at £4m- id be very happy with both.

Same here. More so with Nzogbia. Talks of Randy has agreed to sanction the wage demands (£65k/wk) for King Charles in E&S. Get him in already. Pickup a RB/LB for £4m and thats Youngs money well spent. Couldnt do it better myself on Football Manager ;)

Sorry, slightly off topic, but i can't come up with a good formation / tactics that consistantly work on FM. Got any tips?

Would be happy with both those signings BTW.

I think with training starting next week and most players now back from holidays we will hopefully see a few deals being completed in the next few days.

That would make sense to me as McLeish has already said a keeper is a priority and that, plus replacing Ash, are deals he'll pretty much know he has to do regardless of what he does or does not see from the remaining squad when they come back for pre-season training.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. I always thought that despite having all the money in the world, they would struggle to sign a level of player above that of the Silva's, Milner's and Johnson's of this world. You need more than just money to sign the real creme de la creme as Chelsea have found out to some extent down the years and they have the added attraction to foreign stars of being London based. It will be very interesting to see just whether Man City can sign the sort of marquee signings that, for the most part, are always going to choose clubs with big histories, grounds and support. Add in the real shortage of top talent both here and abroad that is likely to be available and I think they have quite a problem on their hands, albeit one perhaps most clubs would like to have

Nzogbia as a replacement for Ashley sounds good to me. Younger, cheaper and I dare say better!

Yes yes and no but 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

In fact I'm not sure he is younger? What age are they both?
