I've not ate my pudding yet. In fact I think I've barely finished my starter.

It's not even July FFS.

The same as has happened to prove we are, i.e. nothing except one player sold. Now I've been polite enough to answer your question, please answer mine. Where did you get your information that we will accept any offer of £15 million plus for Downing?

Is anybody asking what happens if Bent gets injured...?

Gabby, Del-boy and Wee-man as backup. As long as we dont have to suffer another season with the prospect of Heskey coming off the bench to try to change things. Good point though. If we didnt have so many other postions to sort out Im sure we would look at the striker situation. Someone decent and cheap, for example Demba Ba would of been ideal. I guess give the 2 youngsters 1 more season to see if they can cut it?

Rumours Circulating that Shay Given is about to join Villa. Skybet have suspended betting after taking a large amount of money on odds of 4/11.

 Just heard this ;

Aston Villa are among the clubs chasing Czech Under-21 star Borek Dockal.

The Slovan Liberec midfielder's reputation is higher than ever following a string of impressive displays for his country at the Euro Under-21 championships earlier this month.

And, according to reports in the Czech Republic, Villa have joined Bundesliga sides Hamburg and Schalke in the race for his signature.

Slovan Liberec insist they are not actively looking to sell Dockal but it is understood that a bid of around £1m will be enough to test their resolve.

Dont know anyhting about him, didnt watch the Under 21's unfortunately. Any good?

Much rather Milner than Delph at this moment in time , Milner would solve many of our problems in one stroke and bent would relish it I reckon.
I'd love them both...in the same side...a fit Delph makes my starting 11 every time...he's got steel, skill and a real desire for give and go - a great team player....and we've missed Milly big time...he makes things happen. Is there any chance of Milner moving back though? Are are we all just dreaming...?

Firstly, i can see Milner coming back, but not yet, in another season or two maybe. He's going to want play in the Champions League first.

As for this story that the Bent transfer was paid for by the future money for Ashley, i don't believe that at all. To me that's just a journalist trying to make out he's got his finger on the pulse whilst nothing much is really happening.

I'd only want downing to stay if he's happy to do so, if he's unsettled we don't need that negative effect in the dressing room and anyone wanting to leave is better off being sold rather than sulking- GED got the best out of him but maybe under mcleish he won't be as effective - given his apparent desire to leave I'd cash in at £20m ish and use the money on a couple of quality players like nzogbia and dann.

Shay given and mart gilks would be 2 decent enough keepers as far as I'm concerned- I just hope we can find a buyer for heskey.

I hope we do explore the European market so that we can get value for money. I don't mind signing real top quality from England, but value will be found in Europe.

I agree clampy Milner would want to play champions league but I think city will only strengthen and can't see Milner getting in the team that often as first choice - it depends how he values his England place I guess but he certainly looked a better player in our side than a bit part role at city.

Wishful thinking maybe , but worth asking the question.

Well if someone didn't know how to use their idioms properly then I think I'd ignore their opinions on most things.

The phrase is "the proof of the pudding is in the eating".

I agree that Liverpool may not be the force everyone is expecting next season.

There is a bit of smoke and mirrors spending wise as they only 'new' money they've put in is for Henderson, so what they do have has been largely wasted thus far.  And Mireles was a big part of their recovery under Dalgleish last season , who looks to be leaving.

If we sort the defence out and keep Darren fit, then I see no reason why Liverpool are nailed on to finish above us.

They’re certainly not in a league above us. The Misnomer League money is long gone and as you say, they stand a chance of losing one of their key players.

Anyhoo, I've read on a Wigan forum that the Mirror story is actually true and that we made an offer on Friday for N'Zogbia. I'd very much welcome N'Zogbia.

Has anyone ventured onto the BRFC forum to feed at the fountain of Mirror knowledge that is Allan Nixon yet?
