Nice in theory John m but if reports are to believed the ash money was used in advance to get bent and has therefore already been spent?

I think downing will go to give eck some kind of leverage in the Market- there are so many conflicting rumours about randy cutting back -let's hope they are wrong.

Well, if it was the Ash money that bought Bent then we still have the Milner money - either works for me!

So, how about this for a scenario:-

Downing goes for £20m.  We buy N'Zogbia for £10m and loan a big name for 12 months - Diego or Milner.  We also buy this Ruffier for £30m.  With Ash's £17m(?) that leaves £24m, plus whatever we have ourselves, to rebuild the defence and buy a new DCM.  Say £12m for Dann and two new FBs at £6m each.  £10m for someone like Parker, although I'd prefer a younger version, and we've got a pretty decent looking side for a net spend of only £10m!

Not bad.

How about this. Take the money for Downing and give it straight to Man City for Milner.
Then use the Young money for N'Zogbia and Foster. Loan Walker for a season with a fee agreed for next summer.
Flog Warnock, Cuellar, Beye, Petrov and Heskey for cicra £12m. Use some of that to buy Enrique. Then re-sign Reo Coker, and take some of the sponsorship money and whatever else Randy wants to stick in and get Dann.

Foster
Guzan
Siegrist
Walker
Lichaj
Enrique
Young
Baker
Clark
Dann
Dunne
Collins
Herd
Milner (c)
Makoun
Delph
Reo Coker
Gardner
Bannan
Albrighton
N'Zogbia
Bent
Agbonlahor
Defouneso
Weimann

Sorted. :)

If Sunderland get Gardner for 5m that will be a good bit of business for them-replace Henderson for roughly(with add ons) a quarter of the price.

he's at least 3/4 of the player/prospect-decent passer/tackler with a good strike on him

football valuations are a bit bonkers

I actually rate Gardner higher than Henderson.

As much as i liked Milner (although never saw the idolisation as some did) i feel like my bird has fucked off with a rich playboy only to realise that the novelty soon wore off when the rich fella had many other suitors and lovelies and now feels stupid and wants to come back

Would not want us to see us spunk good transfer cash on him - if we can pick him up for a years loan then fine - and then he would have to prove himself all again

Haha, isnt that the plot for Indecent Proposal starring Demi Moore, Richard Gere and Woody Harrelson?

Re Milner
Milner played plenty of games for Man City last season aswell as an F.A cup medal. Do people SERIOUSLY think he would give up a chance to take part in a title challenge and C.L footy next season? Barry is a year older and clearly on the wane and Viera has gone. Im sure he'll get game time at the expense of Barry next season. Sorry to p*ss on your chips, but not a chance guys.

Daily mail saying city may loan Milner for a season if his full wages are paid- Liverpool and villa said to be interested.

Sunderland preparing to sign 5 players on Friday including Gardner, larsson, westwood and whickham .

Mirror reporting Diego has his heart set on Liverpool.

Sad to say they are going to have a pretty decent squad given the finances being spent by Henry and his backers.

I rate my Gardner (If I had a gardner) better than Henderson.

I'm not saying he's going to re-join us, but he'd be mad to go to Liverpool and play 2nd fiddle to Stevie GBH.

Meh, they'll still do well to finish above Spurs in 5th.

They're spunking an awful lot of money just to be competing with Everton, Spurs and ourselves as also rans. Maybe they'll go bust? That would be nice.

Diego would be awesome for a loan to buy. But whats the point, we've already got 1 troublesome attacking midfielder on our hands. Were gonna have to wait 1-2 weeks just to see what McLeish wants to do with 'superman'. I like the business that Sunderland are doing. Some quality players there. Bruce has a knack of picking up some great players. Elmohamady, Gyan, Sessegnon aswell as Wickham, Westwood etc would take them all at our club tbh. Could def be one of our rivals next season for 6-9th.

Hang on. Before we start pissing our pants over what Liverpool will spend, Suarez and Carroll were balanced by Torres sale and they have a fair few players to sell I'd say.
Snake Eyes hasn't got that much money and they haven't spent that much. Plus their debt is/has been astronomical to pay off. I'm sure Redman will be on to paint the world Red but these are the facts. So far they've made one ridiculous transfer and although they've been linked to every player in the world, that's it.

I'm sure they'll have money to spend but it wont be anything like what a lot of people think.

 Personally I think

Man Utd
Man City
Chelsea

Arsenal
Spurs
Liverpool

Everton
Aston Villa
Sunderland
Stoke/ Newcastle

These look like being the 3 tiers for next season and maybe beyond  IMO. I wouldnt put us and Everton on the same level as Spurs. McLeish wants to improve on last seasons finish, 7th would be highest I think we can achieve and considered some sort of success.
