If you ever have the misfortune to watch a game live with one its unbearable. Raised on a diet of Red MOTD highlights/DVD's they have no perception of the 90 minute duration of an actual game. After 5 mins they are bored. The World Cup/Euro Championships summers analogy is true........why are they wearing England tops?.....some wear Argentina tops which make them double hated.
I remember listening to Paul Frank's Radio WM show on the day of Man Utd's last European Cup final when he interviewed Birmingham's outgoing Lord Mayor (can't remember his name but he was an Irish chap). After chatting about his job, Franks mentioned that he heard the Lord Mayor was the chairman of the official Man Utd's midlands supporters club and he questioned him on why so many people in Birmingham supported Man Utd over a local club. He replied that most of the Brummie Reds he knew were actually fans of Birmingham City as well as Man Utd.I didn't need proof that Brummie Reds were actually Blue Noses in disguise because I've always known it, but it was certainly nice hearing it officially confirmed.
i personally, put it down to an inferiority / insecurity complex... they have to latch onto a winner, because they themselves, feel like sad pathetic little losers...
Now, what's the difference between them and that Port Vale supporter we welcomed with open arms because he wanted to follow a Premier League club?

Because he wanted to be a Villa Fan and this is a Villa website ? That and it's hardly glory hunting is it.
