The point is we didn't know it was going to be a transfer rumour until it was announced.  The media had built it up like it was some huge story.  We had no idea what it was going to be.

Not true, the Guardian's sports editor had tweeted in advance that it was a 'transfer story' after someone speculated it was ManUre being sold.

That tweet was AFTER the OP.  It was not known what the "story" would be at the time this thread started.
