First class deal if it goes ahead especially if Downing is part of the deal the other way.

Clearly shows our intent in no uncertain terms!

Randy has restored my faith with this bid. Transfer fees were never the issue with O'neill. It was about wages being outlayed every week on players who werent being played beye reo-coker sidwell but to name a few.

If bent arrives carew will go along with sidwell and possibly warnock to pay the wages. Good sense from the club.

might of us knew it, its just the media twat who lick MON's arse and need to fill their papers...

I don't care how much we pay. If we sign Bent, I'll be delighted. Just what we need right now. It would then put a big onus on Houllier to start turning things around. The defence is looking a little tighter of alate, and the addition of a frontman who can convert some of our chances too, and we will start to climb the table. Long term, we're gonna always have more potential than Sunderland in all honesty. Next season who's to say we don't kick back up the table to top 6 again? Whether it's with GED, I doubt, but tyo be fair to him, he's made two decent signings so far, and adding Bent would be quite a coup, even for that price.

The only people saying Young's financing this are those who've forgotten that we sold Milner for a small fortune 5 months ago.

Probably the same cockney pricks who pop up on SSN and TowkeSpowte all the time saying "Birminum".

Come on Bent, get yourself down here, you'll love it.

This could be the start of something very good. If only Houllier was here pre summer....... MON you are a arse.

This could be the sort of signing that keeps Ashley Young at the club

wheres that cn*t Oliver holt and his media croonies...   no money , Villa finished, MON is too good for Villa...

fook you  , the lot of you...

Totally agree - fuck all of them and MON

Well done Randy, Houllier and lets not forget the business side in Mr Paul Faulkener

IT just goes to show that i would rather we do our business like this than the spivs at Spurs and co spouting their collective traps off in the press

I am very very excited - this guy has a superb scoring record

I don't think I could have put that any better!!!

Can't see anyone matching our bid to be honest , the player seems to want to come and although Sunderland fans on sky are upset they accept it was a good deal for them- he clearly sees villa as a step up and I'm delighted.

Bent will convert a load of the chances that heskey and gabby have missed , and with a prolific scorer we will soon rise up the table- I'd imagine the players are excited too.

Yep we have £19m in the account from the sale of Milner and Garnder, plus the wage savings from Sidwell, Harewood, Milner etc...

We were never skint!

Just a thought, but maybe when Houllier came in he told Ashley Young what he wanted to do and the sort of players he was after. Ash said "prove it" and that is why he has put off signing a new deal. This sort of signing could tie him down.

I like the fact that the various media outlets are all in complete shock, because they have no clue about the financial situation at Villa.
